DESCRIPTION
A substantial, detached 4 bedroom family home of great period character in Ingleton -
gateway to the spectacular Yorkshire Dales. With 3 reception rooms, impressive loft
room and a large, quintessentially English garden, Ingledene is available to market fo r
the first time in many years and viewing is recommended to appreciate the space and
potential of this exceptionally attractive house.
Entering the property from the stunning gardens, a central hallway provides access to
the snug, sitting room, dining room and kitchen, along with the charming period
staircase and a door down to the cellar. There are useful porches to both the front and
back doors and a sunny greenhouse leading off the cosy snug. On the first floor, there
are 3 good-sized double bedrooms and the master would lend itself to the addition of an
ensuite. There is a generous-sized family bathroom, along with a separate cloakroom
with WC. From the landing, the original stairs then rise to an impressive open loft
room with exposed beams - the ideal play/hobby space. Alternatively, this could be used
to create further bedrooms, if required. Bedroom 4 is also on this floor.
Outside, the large gardens are well stocked with mature trees and shrubs, with borders
and areas of mixed planting. There is a garage and off-road parking for a further 3
vehicles, with potential to create further parking spaces. There is a large, 3 room stone
built outbuilding with water supply and a further outhouse with two store rooms.
Ingledene has been a much-loved family home for many years and the current owners
have provided some fascinating history. Then called Hollin Tree, the first owner was a
Richard Balderston, from 1760 to 1792, with the property then passing to his son,
before becoming home to the Carr family through to the 1920s. After a few years in the
ownership of Mary Ewan, the house was sold to Fanny Ogle from Hartlepool in 1923
and she remained until 1954. In 1923/24, Main Street was widened and two adjoining
cottages were demolished and from this point, the house became known as Ingledene.
The house changed ownership a further 4 times from 1954 to 1986, when the current
owners moved in to raise their family in this spectacular 18th Century property.
Ingleton is a popular village with its proximity to the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
With bars, pubs and shops, the village is well known for its stunning waterfalls walk.
Ingleton has a primary school and is in the catchment area for highly regarded
secondary school education at QES, Kirkby Lonsdale and Settle College. As well as the
Dales, the Forest of Bowland AONB is close at hand and the Lake District can be
reached within under an hour. Trains can be caught at Bentham. Lancaster and the M6
are half an hour by car. The popular market towns of Settle and Kirkby Lonsdale are a
short drive away and both have a Booths supermarket.
The property has gas central heating and is on mains water, drainage and electricity.
Broadband is available. Ingledene is not a listed property.
Agent's Note: By front aspect, the particulars refer to the garden-facing side of the
