Migrating business critical content across

‘Systems of Records’ or from unmanaged

spaces to ‘Systems of Records’ is a

daunting recurring need of organizations

across industries. Common drivers

such as strategic vendor alignments,

consolidations in the wake of mergers/

acquisitions, reduction in technical

debt, unified taxonomy initiatives,

simplification drives etc. are only some

of the reasons that migration of content

across systems often has to be carried

out. Along with the migration of content

also arises the need for effectively and

reliably transporting and often times

transforming the associated metadata for

content and digital assets. Added to this

complexity are other artefacts and data

elements such as taxonomy information,

audit trail information, version history,

object relationships, annotations etc.

and the already challenging task seems

intimidating and a non-starter.

Infosys Enterprise Content Migration

Framework helps organizations in

executing their complex migration

programs involving moving their

documents and digital assets from one

system to another with ease. Our solution

centers around a finished product with

off-the-shelf source/target connectors

developed using the low level APIs of

the individual platforms and our globally

rendered services to ensure success for our

customer’s complex migration programs.

Leveraging our expertise across leading

content platforms, we have developed

a full function, scalable solution with an

extensible architecture for any document

management repository that offers high

performance throughput, large volume of

data migration and robust reconciliation

reporting including file integrity through

hash code verification. Using our solution,

we have executed several large global

migration and consolidation initiatives

that involved migrating and transforming

content, metadata, permissions,

annotations and versions across Enterprise

Content Platforms.

Our Content Migration StrategyWe begin with an Analyze, Strategize and Planning phase to study the environment, dependencies, infrastructure, source and

target systems, data complexity, feasibility,

cost, timelines, any other impacts on the

migration program to ensure it meets the

success criteria and the migration tool is

scaled and tuned-in adequately to meet

the business needs and timelines.

Since all environments are different,

pilot migrations are conducted to

guarantee that our projections are

achievable

Case Study

Large volume migration for financial services customer:

• Migration of 140 TB in 2.5 Months for

migration to OpenText Documentum on

Azure

• High throughput of around 1.75 TB/

day is achieved using the migration

framework. Peak volumes touched

upwards of 400k documents per hour

ingested

• Extensive reconciliation across 5 stages/

hops of how the data moved in the

migration pipeline. Included file-integrity

reconciliation

• Extensive metadata transformation and

enrichment achieved. Custom ACLs

applied on content in destination
