INFORMED DECISION FOR CAREER

2

CAREER

• A person’s course or progress through life

• A career includes all the roles you undertake throughout your life - education,

training, paid and unpaid work, family, volunteer work, leisure activities and

more.

3

CONVENTIONAL THINKING, TRADITIONAL APPROACH

Medical and Engineering are the best career options

If you score 60-70% marks, Arts should be the choice; 70-80% marks will go

to Commerce; 80% and above marks are best suitable for Science subjects

Only the state Universities offer the best education, acceptance of courses by

recruiters is not at all important

Jobs/working options are possible only after the masters degree.

We need to change the perception and match it with “New Age

Thinking”.

4

DECISION MAKING

• Do I take decisions for myself ?

• Do I allow others to take decisions for me?

• Am I forced to abide to decisions taken by others for me ?

The best way to tell if an economics program is the right fit for you is to look at the courses each program offers and decide based on what program you think fits your style of learning and your preferred method of study.Do you like the qualitative side of economics? Or are you more into numbers?Would you prefer a large variety of classes? Or an in-depth study of a specific sector?Asking yourself these questions ahead of time gives you a better chance of ending up at a university you love. But, even if you don’t end up being an economist, at least you might learn why the prices of your precious avocados fluctuate somuch!Best of luck!

PSEPHLOGIST

• Psephology uses historical precinct voting data, public opinion polls, campaign

finance information and similar statistical data.

• is a branch of political science, the "quantitative analysis of elections and

balloting".As such, psephology attempts to scientifically explicate elections.

44

SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER

Public opinion is increasingly shaped by social media. Political candidates, officials, parties, and interest groups need social media managers to monitor the views of constituents about their administration and current issues.

Social media managers must understand various social media platforms and orchestrate campaigns to shape the perceptions of their users. Political science majors know how opinions are formed and influenced by various media and can be instrumental in formulating and implementing these plans.

45

MARKETING RESEARCH ANALYST

• Market researchers analyze how consumers will respond to products

or services, much like political science students assess the reactions of

potential voters to candidates. Political science majors study the role

of survey research and opinion polling in campaigning. The work of

market researchers often involves surveying consumer reactions to

potential or current products and services.

• Market research analysts can tap into the knowledge of research

standards that the political science major possesses when designing

scientifically viable studies. They must present their findings to clients

and co-workers and back up their recommendations with data.

46

INTELLIGENCE ANALYST

Intelligence analysts work for clandestine agencies of the government like the CIA and National Security Agency. They tap the political science major’s understanding of political groups to assess developments in volatile areas of the world. These analysts study particular groups that pose a threat to security, and analyze patterns of leadership and popular support.

Intelligence analysts write reports with their findings, and present briefings to agency leadership and executive & legislative leaders and staff. In addition, knowledge of foreign languages used by potential terrorists helps analysts to investigate potential threats.
