Career achievement highlights

Throughout my 20 years in this industry I have spearheaded several companies, either through start up or expansions. That involved personnel changes, marketing, advertising and extensive training. I have intentionally exposed myself to all aspects of design, from learning all interior finishes installations i.e... Tile countertops, all types of flooring, roofing materials etc. so that I would be credible when presenting a project, that ensues trust that I am competent and the one to go with. Hence having been project manager (at extra cost) On the business of side of design is crucial. I have a proven tried and true technique of the qualifying process to the presentation and most importantly the close. This was developed as a design student working at a furniture store and everyone wanted free consult, That didn’t make me any much needed money so I have a process that’s a moneymaker.

T-n-T Associates: I do all of the competive bidding both residential and commercial. I’m responsible for the permits, contractual wording every job is unique. I calculate materials and ordering of said materials.

Northern Interiors: Sr. designer with one intern. I excelled at bringing my clients over with me but also generating new business. I designed our showroom, met with all of the reps and did half the buying. Within six months my two employers decided to open a second location in Wasilla, repeat of first store. Then a third store was purchased, that was an existing interior design studio and remodeled that store, my employers brought on a third investor who knew nothing about the whole industry. So I hired appropriate staff set up accounts with all vendors and solely brought in new clients. We become the first Martha Stewart gallery, all while servicing my personal projects.

Designcraft: Moving from Fl. To AK this company was the only high end company around. I secured the position before coming home as I am from AK. The owner was ASID also but as an owner of a 50,000 sq. ft. European furniture store as well as high end accessories she had other priorities. I was hired to be Sr. designers and build a design center within the store which included cabinetry, carpet, tile, window treatments etc… I hired two interns and all commercial residential and industrial projects went through me or were obtained by me. I immediately increased revenue in the first month by a third and maintained that for over ten years.
