The Zawinul Foundation for Achievement is dedicated to encouraging and cultivating the pursuit of a performing dream through the creation, identification and support of grants, awards, scholarships, internships, and commission opportunities. Our purpose is to support and further the performance and study of contemporary music. The Joe Zawinul International Music Exchange Program was established by the Zawinul Foundation for Achievement in collaboration with the Joe Zawinul Musikschule in Gumpoldskirchen, Austria, and Musikschulmanagement Niederösterreich to encourage music students to broaden their studies, acquire new skills, and familiarize them with international music school. The Program intends to draw from Joe Zawinul’s personal experiences as an international musician whose classical music roots are based in his early days of music studies in Vienna. The program allows students to benefit from this precious connection. The selected student will receive an all expense paid trip to Vienna, Austria. The Music Exchange Program will be held at the Joe Zawinul Musikschule from June 9 – June 22, 2016 and will include private lessons, master class opportunities, and ensemble performances. Participants will also enjoy a medley of musical and cultural education combined with entertaining sightseeing experiences, including:
• A tour of the city of Vienna • A visit to the Vienna State Opera House • The Viennese Organs • A jazz club evening • A trip to Prater, the city’s renowned amusement park, • Various Cultural Events
