ICT Information Communication Technology

is often used as an extended synonym for information technology (IT), but is a more specific term that stresses the role of unified communications and the integration of telecommunications (telephone lines and wireless signals), computers as well as necessary enterprise software, middleware, storage, and audio-visual systems, which enable users to access, store, transmit, and manipulate information.

PremechanicalWhen humans first started communicating they would try to use language or simple picture drawings known as petroglyths which were usually carved in rock. MechanicalThe mechanical age is when we first start to see connections between our current technology and its ancestors. ElectromechanicalThese are the beginnings of telecommunication. Alexander Graham Bell in 1876 invented telephone. Guglielmo Marconi (1894) developed first radio.ElectronicThe electronic age is what we currently live in. It can be defined as the time between 1940 and right now.

INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

IMPORTANCE

Page 7: Information Communication Technology by Shiela F. Fresnido

•ICT is increasing in importance in people’s lives and it is expected that this trend will continue, to the extent that ICT literacy will become a functional requirement for people’s work, social, and personal lives.

•ICT includes the range of hardware and software devices and programmes. It also includes the communications equipment through which people seek and access information including the Internet, email and video conferencing.

•The use of ICT in appropriate contexts in education can add value in teaching and learning, by enhancing the effectiveness of learning. ICT may also be a significant motivational factor in students’ learning, and can support students’ engagement with collaborative learning.

Radio is the most powerful instrument for the mass communication Radio sets are cheap and easily available Information can be communicated immediately News at the fixed time Blessing for the blind Blessing for illiterate Radio is mobile-no special antenna, neither p/s is required Radio signal doesn't see geographical obstructions Radio is for listening It increases the visualization of the listeners Radio always gives the sense of present tense Radio is the fastest medium in giving latest information

Television is a powerful medium. which, like the film, is a audio-visual. Its ability to transmit live events as they are going on makes it the most powerful medium for mass communication. With teleconferencing, the television can transmit things happening at more than one place at once

Mockup SoftwareIn manufacturing and design, a mockup, or mock-up, is a scale or full-size model of a design or device, used for teaching, demonstration, design evaluation, promotion, and other purposes. A mockup is a prototype if it provides at least part of the functionality of a system and enables testing of a design. Mock-ups are used by designers mainly to acquire feedback from users. Mock-ups address the idea captured in a popular engineering one-liner: You can fix it now on the drafting board with an eraser or you can fix it later on the construction site with a sledge hammer.

Project Management SoftwareProject management software has the capacity to help plan, organize, and manage resource pools and develop resource estimates. Depending on the sophistication of the software, it can manage estimation and planning, scheduling, cost control and budget management, resource allocation, collaboration software, communication, decision-making, quality management and documentation or administration systems. Today, numerous PC & browser based project management software exist and they are finding their way into almost every type of business
