Employment OpportunitiesDepartments within every company have information processing, information technology, and information management needs. An informatics graduate’s multi-disciplinary preparation uniquely prepares him or her to work in any department in any company. Professional positions include:

Dual Degree ProgramsA special exchange partnership has been set up with The University of Applied Sciences Landshut to provide USC Upstate students with the opportunity to receive a second bachelor’s degree from the German university along with their Upstate degree. Students in the areas of business, computer science and informatics can travel to Landshut during their 7th and 8th semesters to study. Students will arrive in Landshut a few weeks before classes begin to receive a short-term, intensive German language course. After the completion of this one-year program, students return to Upstate to finish their studies and upon graduation will receive the degree in their chosen program from USC Upstate as well as a Bachelor of Science in their respective field from Landshut.

Health InformaticsThe Bachelor of Arts in Health Informatics integrates an understanding of health information management, computer technology, information management, information processing technology, communications, information resources administration, and the management of health information systems. The program provides graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to design, develop, and manage health information systems by combining concepts in healthcare, information technology, and leadership.

Bachelor of Arts in Information Management & Systems/Health Information ManagementThe Bachelor of Arts in Information Management & Systems/Health Information Management (IMS/HIM) is the only degree program of its kind in South Carolina. This degree combines the customary HIM courses with informatics courses to strengthen understanding of technology and business. Students successfully completing this CAHIIM-accredited program are eligible to take the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) exam offered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

Advanced Manufacturing ManagementThis Bachelor of Applied Sciences degree prepares students with an Associate of Applied Science in Mechatronics, Industrial Electronics Technology, or Automated Manufacturing Technology for operational leadership positions in manufacturing.

Engineering Technology ManagementThe Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology Management is designed for students who earned an Associate degree in Engineering Technology. This 2+2 program leverages partnerships between USC Upstate and technical colleges to allow Engineering Technology degree holders to complete their bachelor’s degree at USC Upstate by adding management skills to their technical degree.
