INSPIRATIONAL DIRECTORS

Amy Heckerling• Amy Heckerling studied Film and TV at New York University

and got a Masters Degree in Film from The American Film Institute.

• She got inspiration for many of her films from past experiences, which is where we have got many of our ideas for the plot of our opening sequence.

• Her films are distributed by conglomerates like Paramount Pictures.

• She received the Women in Film Crystal Award for outstanding women, she has helped to expand the role of women with the entertainment industry. She has wanted to apply David Gauntlett’s empowered female to her characters in the films she writes and directs for. This inspires us as we want to show that both women and men are equal in society.

John Hughes

• The whole way through Hughes’s career he aspired others.

• When he tragically died, those who knew him commented on the impact Hughes's had on them and on the film industry. Other directors say that their work is his work.

• One of his popular trade marks is close-ups of two characters locking eyes with each other. We would really like to include this into our film, the stereotypical love scene which every young girl loves and dreams for one day that they will experience it.

INSPIRATIONAL ACTORS

Page 6: Influential factors

AnnaSophia Robb• Robb is both an actress and a new coming singer. She recorded

a song for a soundtrack titles ‘Keep Your Mind Wide Open’ which was released and went straight into the charts. We love the idea of one of our main characters to be a singer and the soundtrack for the film will be their single, it will present the main emotions and feelings between the couple.

• She has been in many romance and comedy films throughout her career. For example she played Carrie in ‘The Carrie Diaries’ where she asks first questions about love, sex, friendship and family while navigating the worlds of high school. This character represents the ideas of what our characters will be going through, the age of growing up and discovering new things. Her character applies Janice Winship’s notion of complicity, growing up you get to chose who you want to be and how you’re presented to society and the gratifications she will receive from this.

Victoria Justice

• Justice started at a very young age in the celebrity world. She started in 2005 on Zoey 101.

• Justice’s trade marks are her high cheekbones and long brown hair but contrasting this she says she is a ‘tomboy’. This applies Judith Butler’s Gender Performance, her natural beauty is seen but the way she represents herself with her clothes and personality. Within our cast one of the girls will be tomboy like, she will hide her real self due to her other friend being the ‘glamour girl’.

• Justice is seen as a new upcoming actress in America, she has played many different sorts of characters, some very opposite to her personality. We love her confidence on screen and off, many young girls aspire to be like her and we want our characters to be seen in the same way.

Douglas Booth

• Booth is our inspiration for our main character. In LOL (2012), he falls in love with his best friend Lola after she breaks up with his best friend. Our USP is going to be that the boy is the one who falls in love with the girl.

• Booth is a very attractive young actor and he is soon as eye candy to girls. Girls want to be with him and boys want to be him. We want both our primary audience and secondary to be able to relate to our main character and this is one way of doing so.

Logan Lerman

• Lerman plays a part called Louis in Stuck in Love. He plays a character of a young boy, who isn’t very popular but falls in love with a popular girl who gets any boy she likes. He and the girl become good friends and by the end he changes her to being a better person and they fall in love. This inspired us to want one of our characters to be more geeky but still a little bit popular due to his friends. We want him to have a crush on one of his friends but she is ‘too good for him’ but by the end he gets the girl of his dreams.

• Lerman is still very young and is seen as a cute, blue eyed boy. Everyone has there secret crush on him due to his personality and blue eyes. We really love this idea of him being the cute innocent boy who throughout the film becomes more confident and you get to know him better throughout.
