RESULTSSEM images show a difference in morphological changes between antimicrobial treated and untreated samples after soil exposure for different periods. Initial surfaces of antimicrobial treated and untreated samples were smooth. 28 days after soil exposure the fabric showed porosity, breaks and cracks which are more intense for untreated samples.

CONCLUSIONS
In this research, the influence of the antimicrobial agent on biodegradation of cellulose substrate via morphological changes and changes in functional groups in time-dependence were studied. We can conclude that the application of TMPAC onto the cotton fabric slows down the degradation rate of cellulose.
