“I am one of four professional chefs within two generations of my family. One was head chef of the Union Club in NYC from the 1950s to early 1970s. Another was the head chef of the NYC Sherry-Netherland. My father, Pierre Adrian was recruited from Alsace, France to cook in the US and he later earned the Maisonette its first five star rating during his time as head chef there. With all that food in my history, what else was I supposed to pursue?

My dad died very young and I created La Petite Pierre, a boutique catering agency, as a tribute. In 25 years with La Petite Pierre I had the privilege of cooking for former presidents, senators, members of congress, and celebrities like Bruce Springsteen and Julia Child. More importantly, La Petite built decades-long friendships with some of the most remarkable families in Cincinnati. I built my career serving these families and will be forever grateful for their many years of loyalty, love, and support.

I have always had a passion for cooking for those who really need it such as our less-fortunate neighbors who are experiencing hunger, or others whose health issues create a particular need for simple, healthful, palatable food. With La Soupe I get to bridge the gap between my talent for crafting food and my passion for bringing food to our friends and neighbors who need it most.”

La Soupe started out as a small business with heart. Suzy donated one bowl of soup to those in need for every quart of soup she sold. Late this past summer she changed her operation, closing her retail store in Madeira and focusing on her new non-profit located in Newtown. Suzy’s entire focus now is on rescuing produce destined for the land fill and creating soups for those in need, especially children. In October alone, she rescued over 2,000 pounds of produce from local grocery stores and produced over 100 gallons of soup for kids in need.

Suzy doesn’t do it alone. She enlists the help of volunteers to pick up produce. She has also created a bucket brigade of local chefs who take rescued produce and create soups for her to dispense to hungry children. Weekly chef volunteers include; Mike Florea of Maribelles, Todd Kelly and Megan Ketover of Orchids, Jason Louda of Meatball Kitchen, Lilly Burdsall and the MCI culinary staff, Arik Messerschmidt of Son of a Preacher Man, Donny Hatton of Carlo & Johnny’s, and Vitor Abreu of Vitor’s. Suzy is also beginning a chef mentoring program for young people who want to become chefs. She is looking for volunteer mentors to come and work with young people on Monday’s at her Newtown location.

She even has a holiday gift idea. Stop in to pick up adorable mason jars - which include a gift certificate for la Soupe soupe, the mission statement, rice and bean soupe ingredients and a spice packet! Help Suzy get her story out into the community so she can feed hungry children and families!

The first face of love is to love God, The Divine, The Creator of the Universe, or whatever name we choose to give to that which is above all and greater than self. We love not simply because The Divine loves us—although that is a good reason—but because loving The Divine is our natural response to a perfect deity. For a child not to love a parent is unnatural. Even if that parent is judged by others as unworthy of love, it makes little difference to the child. We love because we are a part of that parent—an extension of their lives.

We are also an extension of divinity. That which created us, we naturally love. That which gave us life and a world in which to play, is the One we are drawn to in love. Our world is filled with churches, some simple and some ornate, that demonstrate that we love The Divine.

Worship is merely a means to express our love individually and collectively. All things begin and end with love. Our existence is meaningless without love. A life lived without love is often a dangerous and fearful life. Even though we may deny love, it doesn’t make it go away or any less important. Even when we don’t feel the love of The Divine, it is always constant and unmoving. Always present, always caring, always drawing us back to that which is greater than ourselves.

The second face of love is to love ourselves. When done properly, this doesn’t have to involve the ego. We love ourselves not because we are special, but simply because we are an extension of the Creator, or an extension of Divine Love. “Special” implies that one person is better—or in some cases less than—someone else. But, when we understand that all of The Divine’s creations are equally special and that favoritism is not part of divine plan, then we can hold our egos in check.

I love my children, but if one of them lived as if they were unworthy of my love or as if they were unlovable, I would be disappointed and hurt. I

know they are lovable or I wouldn’t love them. My children don’t have to say or do anything to deserve my love. It is theirs and it always will be. They are an extension of me, and I know they have great potential for love.

We extend the love for our children to ourselves. We love ourselves because it is healthy, and because the alternative is harmful to our emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.

The third face of love involves loving our neighbors. As we looked at in the second face of love, we are loved not because we are special, but because we are created in the image of The Divine. The same is true of our neighbors—meaning everyone we come into contact with. We love them not because they are special, not because we see them as better than us, but we love them simply because they are also an extension of Divine Love, and because they are our brothers and sisters.

Love is often misunderstood and hard to define. Love is a decision and an emotion, a noun and a verb, but rarely is love understood to be simply a state of being—a state of acceptance. Most of the time when I think of love, I think about the active aspect of love. I consider the fact that love is doing for others and doing for myself. Making life easier or better. But love is also a state of acceptance of one another and as such it indicates a lack of judgment. When we are judging, we have stopped loving. We accept one other as the divine creation that we are no matter who we are or what we’ve done.

The fourth aspect of the faces of love is similar to the third one, but because we have more difficulty with this facet of love it is mentioned here separately. The fourth face of love is to love our enemies just as much as we love ourselves or anyone else. Loving our enemies doesn’t come easily, but the reason is similar to the reason we have difficulty loving ourselves. We see faults in ourselves and in others. Often the faults we see in others, including our enemies, is often the same faults we see in ourselves.

As we learn to accept the faults we see in our enemies, it helps us to accept the faults we believe are present in our own lives. To be able to release these mistakes and not to judge ourselves is a key ingredient to loving our enemies as we love ourselves. It’s nearly impossible to love our enemy if we hate who we are. But, if we can correct this mistaken image of ourselves, it becomes possible to extend that love to everyone. Each person we meet demonstrates love, or presents to us a call for love. It is up to us to decide how to respond. It’s easy to love those who love us. The challenge is to go beyond the easy and to share love with those we don’t like and to those who don’t like us.

The Season of Inspiration

As the winds grow cooler, our hearts grow warmer as we greet our days with anticipation, delight and exuberance. We anticipate the gifts of the season: love, generosity, renewal. We delight in caring and sharing. Our excitement turns into exuberance and is felt, bringing more joy into the world.

Feel your happiness bubbling in your heart as you taste the season’s culinary treats, renew precious friendships, practice treasured traditions, enjoy encouraging music, and sparkle with the lights of the season. This is a time of rebirth – a time to go within to examine that which means the most to us. It is a time of refl ection and new beginnings as we share honored traditions and move into the new year.

Love inspires. More than anything, this season

makes us feel more demonstrative in our expressions of love. We delight in giving gifts and sharing the wealth of our affections. We embellish our appearance, our homes, our pets, and welcome the company of family and friends. Love is the glue that holds life together. Indeed, it is our reason for living. As we recall the feelings of seasons past, it is the love that makes them most memorable.

The daylight shifts from less to more and we move into our personal space to give ourselves more. By giving- we receive. Maybe we are considering a healthier diet, more patience, or more penetrating meditations. By taking care of Self, we give a gift to the world of health and balance. Perhaps we are thinking about our divine intent: to be more kind. This conscious intention spills out into the world and takes with it that positive inspiration to be

better. Without even thinking about it, we share all of our inspirations – just by living our own noble truth of Self-improvement.

We spend more time indoors, which gives us time to contemplate how we can make this world a better place. Positive thinking is a great place to begin. As your thought of love goes out to hit the target of your affection, it collects more of its kind. It carries your unique signature – just like a little snowfl ake – so individual- so unique, and it resonates at your frequency. It hits your target and then- surprise! It boomerangs back to you. Your thought form of love lodges in the upper part of your body. On the other hand, bad thoughts land and are stored in the lower part of your body. Who you are and what you think attracts more of that energy. It would serve us and our world to think more positive thoughts.

Let us live our aspirations of “peace on earth” by becoming a blessing in someone’s life. Who needs your help? You can make someone’s day better. It’s simple really, and just thinking this thought will bring you others to help by the simple law of attraction.

Wishing you and yours the many blessings of the season. May the love, joy and warmth remain with you always. Be inspired!

Ask Sage Woman: Spiritual Advice for the Real World

with Sage Woman

Dear Sage Woman,

How does one keep a positive flow with all of the hatred and violence prevalent on this planet?

J.B

________

Dear J.B.

I struggle with this as well, and am answering your question barely two days following the Paris attacks. These events are weighing heavily on so many of us and bringing to light the vast amount of uncertainty felt all across the planet. It is also bringing much more awareness about the immense need for inner peace and self-love.

All I can bring to this question are my own beliefs, and as always, I only speak from my own truths.

Life is a mystery and we may never fully understand the reasons why events unfold the way they do. Our only true control is how we choose to react to situations. It is normal to feel outrage, sadness, grief, anger and sorrow alongside world events based in what we believe to be hatred. At the root of hatred is always the lack of love. The lack of love (for self) will remove all compassion for others.

When I go through the range of lower emotions and finally allow those feelings to be felt, I find myself experiencing a deep level of stillness. Stillness brings me back to my own awareness of how, in my life, I can love myself more and take even more authentic responsibility for the energy I exhibit each and every day.

We can never fight hatred with hatred. Sometimes it seems impossible to feel the energy of love in connection with such events. Perhaps only on

a soul level is it possible to feel merely love - without judgment of such actions - which could never be condoned or understood.

I’ve experienced events in my own lifetime that have been difficult to understand, let alone, find forgiveness. However, with trust and faith in something greater than myself, and life itself, I have been able to find both peace and forgiveness, not always for the action, but for the root of what likely caused the violence.

While this planet evolves from a fear-based reality to a love-based reality (or illusion), we will experience much change and challenges. I do believe that if we choose to act from love and not fear, we change the energy and consciousness within ourselves and with those we experience life.

We are spiritual beings having a human experience. It is natural to feel the ebb and flow of emotions that come with living on Mother Earth. However, we have the choice to rise above feelings of victimhood and choose to be victorious by walking the path of love and not fear. Living in the moment is a must, as is finding gifts in even the darkest events we experience personally and collectively. Remember, we do not have control over anything that happens outside of us. We only have the ability to choose how we deal with the experience. Choose love! When we choose love it is not putting our heads in the sand and pretending the violence and hatred does not exist. It means choosing to feel the range of emotions, but to go back to our own core relationship with self and Creator, and sometimes surrendering to

the circumstances we just are not yet meant to have a human understanding of.

The Beauty of the Body – the Temple of God

I have always trusted my body to heal itself , to warn me when I’m out of balance and could become ill, to gather the energy I need, and to get me where I’m going. I think that my trust of my body came from a past life in Egypt where a reading from Edgar Cayce told me that I taught the care of the body in the Temple Beautiful where older bodies could be rejuvenated.

The body is intricately designed and extremely inventive whenever it responds to illness or trauma. I remember a research report from my husband, Harmon, some 30 years ago. Someone had a serious injury to the eye and doctors explained how nearby tissue had moved in to help do the work of the injured and missing tissue and healed it.

At the 2014 Member Congress (an annual conference held at A.R.E.’s Virginia Beach headquarters), Sidney Kirkpatrick brought to the stage a man who had tuberculosis (TB) in his youth and spent years in sanitariums. Back in the 1920s and ‘30s, people with TB were treated as lepers, because the disease is very contagious and there was no cure. They went to the sanitariums to die. This patient, George, had heard of Edgar Cayce, gotten a reading, and started to use the same charred oak keg that was prescribed for Edgar’s own wife, Gertrude Cayce when she had TB. George didn’t tell anyone about this, not even his family.

After the treatment, an x-ray had shown George’s lungs were healed of TB and that his right lung had grown larger to handle the work of the left lung, which had become useless. Somehow, Sidney found George and arranged for him to come to the A.R.E. Congress to tell his story of healing.

Many Christians have for centuries been afraid of the body and its instincts and some even view the body as evil. Some religions teach that bodies, especially female bodies, have to be fully covered.

Edgar Cayce’s view of the body shocked people living in the ‘20s, ‘30s, and ‘40s. He said over and

over again that the body is God’s gift to us, and we should treat it with the utmost respect—as the “temple of God,” which Jesus had said over 2,000 years ago.

This we should take seriously, because if we view the body as God’s temple, we will treat it differently. We will watch what we put into our bodies, we will watch what comes out of our mouths, and we will lead as balanced a life as possible—making a place for work, for laughter, and play; for music and the arts; for nature; and for reaching out to others in selfless service.

Nearly every temple, church, or mosque has a place for music and artworks. Edgar was an artist, an award-winning photographer. Although not trained in music, he had much to say about the positive influence music can have on people. As he was preparing to cross over, he heard heavenly music: the music of the spheres. The rapture on his face must have been beautiful to see. It was a final blessing on his life of dedicated service to God.

The holy emblem displayed at the center of a church, temple or mosque, signifies the focus, the ideal, the deep prayer and longing of the soul for connection with the Holy One. The body helps us make this connection with its endocrine gland centers. Every church, temple, or mosque has pads for us to kneel on.

When my granddaughter Katie was four, she took her first plane ride. I asked her how she enjoyed her flight. She said, “Oh, Gramma, the plane went up and up and up and pretty soon I was right next to God!” That’s what the physical, glandular parts of our bodies can do for us if we learn to train the body to be still and cooperative, the mind to be quiet and focused, and the spirit to be free and guided by the Holy One.

Edgar’s term for God was often “the Creative Forces.” I love this name for God, because it suggests God’s creativity is in me too. “Spirit that uses matter, (the body as temple), that uses every influence in the earth’s environ for the glory of the Creative Forces, partakes of and is a part of the universal consciousness.” (Edgar Cayce Reading 3508-1)

So we are body, mind, and spirit. One is not less than the other. All three aspects of us must work together to bring us closer to God. I can actually join my creativity with God’s creativity, and together we can produce something wonderful.

About the Author: Dr. June

Avis Bro found her life deeply affected by working daily with Edgar Cayce when she and her husband, Harmon, came to Virginia Beach in 1943. She has a graduate ministerial degree from Andover-Newton Theological School, near Boston, and a doctorate from Chicago Theological Seminary. In addition to teaching while raising five children, she has been a research assistant at Harvard, lectured and held workshops in many cities, led overseas tours to the Near East and China, and served as pastor. A concert pianist, she draws on her background in the arts to illuminate myths, symbols, and dreams. At age 90, she released her first piano CD called “Soul Soundings,” which is being sold in the A.R.E. Bookstore. Her column for A.R.E.’s Venture Inward magazine, “The Art of Living,” is based on her life reading given by Mr. Cayce in 1944. She wrote the forward to the re-released book A Seer Out of Season written by Harmon Bro.

We’re approaching the time of year where everyone in the family gets busy with social engagements, shopping, cleaning, and holiday get together planning. The closer we get to Christmas, the less time we have to relax and spend time with our companion animals.

From the perspective of our cat, dog, bird, horse, or hamster, Thanksgiving or Christmas is just another day. Sure, we may give our pets a special treat and there may be more visitors in our home at this time of the year. Outdoor things like trees and pine cones [that we normally tell them NOT to bring in the house] suddenly appear in the house. They really don’t understand why we are more stressed and less available to them. As a result, they may react to our lack of availability and heighten stress in several different ways.

Some animals may react by having accidents in the house, or by not using the litter box consistently. Others may become more anxious when we leave, and more demanding of attention when we do occasionally sit down to breathe for a few minutes. Cats may view the Christmas tree as a new climbing toy. Male dogs may not be able to distinguish between trees outdoors and trees indoors when urinating.

In short, our companion animals sense when we are nervous or stressed and they react to it based on their individual personalities. Here are some suggestions we give our clients to help their pets get through the holiday season:

Set aside focused time for each pet every day – even if it is only 5 minutes a day. This will be time that you connect with them and focus

by Cindy Huff & Terri Noftsger

Dec / Jan 2016

Page 13: Infinity December / January 2016

totally on them, whether it be just sitting and petting them or going for a walk with them. The key is to be present and focused on THEM for that period of time.

Tell each pet how important they are to you, even when you’re busy!

Give each pet a job for the holiday season. For example, if you are having young children over, your friendly family dog could have the job of staying with the children and watching over them. Be sure to have an adult in the room at all times as well to assist the dog!

If your pet tends to not like noise and confusion, consider allowing them to be in another room when having people over, especially if it’s going to get noisy or if there will be a lot of coming and going.

If you are going to be gone for a few days, be sure to tell your pet that you will be back, and in how many days. If your animal has been abandoned or a stray, this is especially important!

Be very focused on safety at this time of year. If you have dogs, please don’t leave dark chocolate lying around. Be mindful of when opening doors or gates so that dogs and cats don’t get loose.

If you’re considering a puppy or kitten as a present for someone, please consider doing so after the holiday season is over so that they will have time to spend with the new addition.

We wish everyone a joyous and peaceful holiday season!

Baker Chiropractic Testimonial

Lori Hoffman and Dr. Patrick Baker

Dear Dr. Baker,

I would like to thank you, Dr. Patrick Baker, for helping with not only with my ongoing back pain but for also offering a solution to my ten week battle with kidney stones.

I first sought out Dr. Baker’s help because I threw out my back and could barely move. I was desperate to find relief from my pain as our family had tickets for the All-Star Game festivities. I needed to be on my feet and mobile for the entire week. The treatment I received for my back and shoulder offered relief faster than I expected and I was able to attend all of the events and I could not thank Dr. Baker and his staff enough.

Then at the beginning of September I was rushed to the Emergency Room with severe pain in my left side. The emergency room doctor said I had a 5mm kidney stone and advised me to make an appointment with an urologist but I would have to wait two weeks. The ER supplied me with pain medication and Flow-Max medicines to assist with passing the stone.

The stone did not pass in those two weeks, so the doctor suggested that I give it two more weeks to try to flush it out and if it did not pass by then I would need two rather expensive surgeries.

After the second urologist appointment, I mentioned everything I was going through to Dr. Baker at my very next back therapy session. When we were discussing the options that were presented to me and the cost of the surgeries and Cat Scans. I wasn’t sure if he could offer any assistance but he was more than willing to listen when in reality “I was just hoping he could do something to help”.

Dr. Baker said there was a kidney stone supplement pill that might be able to help in lieu of the expensive alternatives. I figured what I had nothing to lose, as my trust in Dr. Baker was growing with every visit.

I followed the directions with the supplement taking one week’s worth and went back to the doctor and to my surprise they could no longer find the kidney stone on the x-ray. I also had a follow-up visit and they still could not find the kidney stone. I was elated.

So, Dr. Baker saved me from having two surgeries, the cost of the hospital stay, follow up visits and any further doctor visits. The CT scan at the ER alone was $3,186.00, so I can only imagine how much two surgeries would have cost.

I can’t thank Dr. Baker and his staff enough for all the help they have given me. My back has felt so much better, I am able to help landscape our yard, tear down our shed and haul away the wood with my children and husband.

Thank you,

Lori Hoffman

Tips for a Stress-Free Christmas This Year

by Dr. Joeseph Mercola

While Christmas is traditionally perceived as a holiday of good cheer and togetherness with family and friends, the reality of the season is less than bright for many.

This year in particular, financial struggles may be on the top of your list of emotional and psychological stress factors.

This may be the first time you’ve approached the holidays after receiving a diagnosis of cancer, or some other serious illness. Or perhaps this will be your first Christmas without a loved one you lost recently; the feelings of sadness and loss paralyze you at times.

Maybe you haven’t had any success in finding a new job since you were let go, and you feel guilty and depressed that there won’t be many presents for your family under the tree this year, so much of the spirit to celebrate eludes you.

With all these potential pitfalls, what can you do to safeguard your emotional and physical health this Christmas?

While there are no magic bullets, there are strategies you can employ to make this holiday season the healthiest it can be.

And even if you’re not coping with emotional or financial stress, your physical health can still take a tumble during this time of year.

Decreased vitamin D production, and the temptation to overindulge in sweets can seriously weaken your immune system. Add to that a hectic schedule of cooking, shopping, and entertaining, and you may well find your stress levels spiraling out of control, making you vulnerable to sickness.

Practical Tips to Lighten the Christmas Blues

Professional therapists typically see a 15 percent increase in people seeking help at this time, as Christmas can bring personal problems to the foreground. Since Christmas stands for family togetherness more so than any other holiday, it is the time of year when you may become acutely aware of the void in your life, magnifying feelings of isolation and loneliness.

If the blues have you all wrapped up, exercise can be one of your best allies. Mild to moderate depression can be alleviated with this one strategy alone, without resorting to

potentially dangerous drugs. It’s one of the best kept secrets for treating depression.

The practical problem with using exercise in depression, however, is that the desire to pursue any activity, let alone exercise, can be quite low or nonexistent. However, please know that once you get over your initial resistance, physical exercise stimulates endorphin production, which helps to combat depression. So remind yourself you WILL feel better once you’re done.

Another effective energy psychology tool that can be used alone or in conjunction with exercise is the Meridian Tapping Technique (MTT). This simple technique can help you successfully address underlying emotional triggers.

It is important to remember though that it would not be wise to rely on treating yourself for serious problems with MTT, as effective self-treatment for serious problems is rarely effective. This is somewhat analogous to a surgeon removing his own appendix. While it is technically possible, it just simply isn’t a good idea. In that case, you’ll need to find a skilled MTT practitioner to help guide you through the healing process.

Optimizing your diet is clearly another important step, both to address the emotional aspects of the blues, and keep your immune system going strong.

Two of your most important DO’s include optimizing your vitamin D levels and making sure you’re getting enough omega-3 fats. The top two DONT’s include gorging on high-sugar foods and sweets, and succumbing to the lure of alcohol. Although you may believe it’ll wipe away the bad feelings for awhile, alcohol is actually a depressant, which can make you feel even worse than you did before.

How to Reduce the Holiday Stress Factor

Unrealistic expectations are one aspect of the holiday season that can make you wish it was over before it started. I think it’s important to realize that most people’s holidays are not nearly as “picture perfect” as you might think, or that TV commercials portray them to be. Few are capable of pulling off the perfect fantasy, no matter what time of year it is. So keep your expectations realistic, based on the time you have available and your financial situation. And don’t compare yourself to anyone else.

Overspending during this time is another major source of

Page 17: Infinity December / January 2016

17Infinity

stress for many. Vow not to spend beyond your means. Set a holiday budget and stick to it. Going into debt to buy gifts, decorations and lavish amounts of food is the perfect recipe for a guilt-ridden, unhappy New Year. My best recommendation is to indulge your creativity instead.

There are many ways to create a festive atmosphere without spending a fortune. My suggestion to all of you is to share your favorite creative ideas for fashioning gifts or decorations on a strict budget with other readers in the Vital Votes section! It can be your gift to the larger community of people you don’t even know.

Another way to reduce your stress is to make a concerted effort to realign the focus of the holiday to reflect its spiritual message rather than the commercial one. You may need to discuss how you and your family will do this, as it can take many forms depending on your beliefs.

Here are a few more tips that can help you keep your sense of balance when stress threatens to take over the show:

Be gentle on yourself, and give yourself permission to say “No”… It really is okay to take special time for yourself. If the holidays have you feeling down for whatever reason, indulge in the things that make you feel happy, whether they’re holiday related or not.

Seek out people who make you feel better, and avoid people who add to your stress or contribute to your depression.

Regain a sense of control by scheduling no more than one or two manageable goals per day, even if they’re as simple as writing a few cards, or cleaning a small section of a room. The satisfaction of completing these tasks can add to your sense of well-being, and help you get everything done, over a longer period of time.

If a certain tradition causes more stress and discomfort than joy, give yourself permission to do things differently! Remind yourself that there is no right or wrong way to celebrate Christmas. Ban the word “should.”

Focus on what you and your family want to do for the holidays instead of what other families are doing.

Take advantage of online shopping instead of rushing through malls.

If the thought of cooking Christmas dinner gives you a headache, arrange to have friends and family over to help you cook ahead of time, hold a potluck dinner, or make a reservation at a special restaurant instead.

Take Ownership of the Holiday by Realizing What You’re Grateful For

Christmas can be a wonderful break in the daily routine that pervades the rest of the year, or it can be the most stressful of times – it’s up to you. If you decide that this season is about celebrating life and love, and keep that as your number one priority, there’s no telling what your holiday may end up looking like, but I’m willing to bet it will be very special.

Our Journey Continues

We awake each day as we continue our journey of discovery and enlightenment ever conscious and aware that we are being led and given opportunities to learn and grow based upon encounters and interactions in this physical existence. Many believe we have chosen to participate and involve ourselves as this physical vessel we inhabit for the purpose of furthering our soul’s advancement. The gift of free will, the ability to choose directs and guides our path in ways we may not understand, yet always are we given avenues for advancement and instilled with spiritual illumination as a result of our sincere desire to achieve. Many are the opportunities presented to share lessons learned with those in need. We endeavor to share knowledge and enlightenment with those whose progress has been hampered by intentions and desires incompatible with those higher teachings that encourage and support their beings and grant to us the opportunity to serve as we make our way in this existence.

From the collection of messages and teachings received directly from spirit teachers/angels that compose Wilma Jean Jones’ upcoming book “An Angel Told Me So” comes this high teaching. Wilma asked for and received this message as a special gift for Michael’s birthday. The depth and quality of these teachings received and the personal nature of this material engages and allows readers to feel they are being spoken to on a level that reflects what they personally are experiencing and speaks to the heart of those willing to accept the divine nature of these dictated messages. This message was presented for Michael; yet again this message is woven with a universal thread that speaks directly to all sincere seekers of truth on a personal level as each reader feels they are being addressed as they deal with what is transpiring in their lives. This message is unique in the messages Wilma received as this teaching appears to have been given by a single high teacher. There are no references by spirit teachers to themselves as “we,” “our,” and “us” in this message. This teacher refers on numerous occasions to “My Word,” “My spirit,”

“My grace,” and “My means.” This message was received by Wilma on Sunday, August 18, 1996.

“Pleasures are an indication of God’s blessings. Although others pretend to enjoy delights without involvement in His cause, still He allows His gracious Spirit to include their desires access to this mighty power that when recognized, brings understanding. While debates bring reassurance in the matter, He elevates the mind to include matters of importance that rely solely upon His promises and not regulated by any other means. Communications are designed to include effort as well as understanding that God requires obedience in return and alleviates situations in order that He can emerge victorious in His design. You are required to endure that which tries to separate you from this personal analysis and entertain His thoughts that are given in order that you are made strong in your intentions and difficulties are only presented to bring this about.

“Whether time seems endless in its ability to project yet added necessities the soul must endure, after all is said and done, effort well spent will be the manner in which you will be judged. Meanwhile, always depend upon His promises that are given to requite a special blessing in order that your striving to elevate your soul’s progress is credited to your account. Nevertheless, always be alert to that still small voice that needs recognition so that at times when doubt or distress arises to capture your spirit, you will be able to draw strength from what has been given and can rely upon His promises that will be multiplied according to their acceptance. Regulations bring rebellion and can stymie the spirit while My Word brings encouragement and food for nurturing that part of My spirit that has maintained a constant vigil over circumstances to see that all that has been endured has not been cause for forfeiture of the gifts made available, above and beyond what your mental images can present, and in the days to come will be more in evidence because of your nature to inquire and make note of what is given. Pretensions are recognized and discarded,

Dec / Jan 2016

Page 21: Infinity December / January 2016

however, earnest investigations will bring rewards in their content so that problems of a nature that questions the sincerity of what has been given can be put to rest.

“Whenever man has captured the real essence of His being and can understand the underlying causes of daily conflict, he has progressed to a new level of perception and will be lifted above that which would deter his progress. Social activities can sometimes be of a nature that suffocates cause and effect that has been put into motion in order to bring about sudden, if not additional compromises. Therefore, in all things be diligent and do not waver from the path set before you for completion, for not always does My spirit strive with man when time has proved over and over My grace and long-suffering love that encompasses all that man has chosen to take unto himself.

“Challenges will always be a part of My means to prove and approve that which is tolerated on the basis of reproof and substantiated by a recognition and a need to comply with what has been revealed and not that which pictures a contrast and divides proper preparation that inhibits the ability to secure that which God has granted for release and not indictment. Therefore, in all things let there be praise for His indulgence and for the gifts that allow and also prevent those circumstances that are given in order that a place of distinction can be obtained. There will be opportunities in the near future that will bear out the truth contained within. Whenever circumstances bring remorse, always remember to answer in the affirmative to the call that has been ever present within your being, for countless ages God has given to His own an environment in which co-existence with His Spirit has been the over-riding element to his survival, and although tested over and over in spite of protest, a constant relenting to the leading of God’s Spirit has accomplished and established a special hiding place wherein nothing can disturb or disrupt a peace that only God can supply.”

Vitamin D is one of the most, if not the most, important vitamins to maximize your health and protect yourself from a long list of common health problems.

It’s essential for strong bones, cell growth, immune system strength and the reduction of inflammation.

This crucial vitamin is also extremely important in the prevention and treatment of a growing list of health problems which include things like:

1. Heart Disease

2. Breast Cancer

3. Ovarian Cancer

4. Colon Cancer

5. Diabetes

6. Osteoporosis

7. Multiple Sclerosis

Vitamin D Deficiency is Common

Inadequate levels of this vitamin are typical for most people. Very few foods contain it. Therefore, you’re probably not getting adequate amounts with your normal diet.

The other main source of the vitamin is exposure of your skin to ultraviolet rays of the sun. Therefore, if you stay out of the sun or live in an area of the country where you don’t go outside very long during a portion of the year (for example, winter in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana), then you probably aren’t getting the necessary amount of the vitamin that you need.

Here’s a list of the most common reasons people are Vitamin D deficient:

1. You are not consuming adequate levels of the vitamin in your diet.

Vitamin D is Vital to Your Health and Wellness

by Baker Chiropractic2. Your exposure to sunlight is limited.

3. Your kidneys cannot convert enough of the vitamin into its active form.

4. Your digestive system cannot absorb enough of the vitamin.

5. You have dark skin.

6. You are obese.

Testing and Treating Deficiencies

The most accurate way to measure the levels of vitamin D in your body is by a blood test.

At Baker Chiropractic and Wellness, we offer a very simple test at all of our four (4) clinic locations. This test literally takes five (5) minutes to complete and only involves a small pinprick to the finger. We do NOT use the venipuncture procedure which uses a needle to draw blood for testing. It’s not necessary for this test. Results from the test are available within three (3) days.

The treatment of Vitamin D deficiency and maintenance of adequate levels of the vitamin in your body involves proper nutrition, health of your central nervous system and the use of supplements.

We’ve been helping patients of all ages with Vitamin D deficiencies for over 20 years. We will optimize the health of your central nervous system and provide you with the nutrition and supplement advice you need to maintain the proper levels of this vitamin.

“Please Don’t Cheat Me!” she pleaded . . .Finding and Eliminating the Trouble-Magnets in our Lives

She parked her car in the lot, then walked in to the service counter where my friend Jack works. “There is something wrong with my car. Can you fix it?”

Jack heard her story. Examined the car to confirm his diagnosis. “Yes we can. It’s a pretty simple job. Cost will be about $150.”

She handed him her keys. Filled out the paperwork. Then, just as she was about to go she looked at Jack with pleading eyes, “Please don’t cheat me, like everyone else does!”

Wow! If only she’d known what her subconscious’ operating software was doing to her. And how easily she could put a stop to those repeating “cheated” experiences.

In fact anyone who keeps experiencing a repeating pattern of unpleasant or toxic events can now quickly change their lives so that good events replace the unpleasant. Compared with the slow processes of yesteryear – talk therapy, even Transactional Analysis – now they have access to such therapies as Neuro-Emotional Anti-Sabotage Technique (NEAT), Psych-K and Life Improving Internal-Focus Technique (LIIFT).

With each of these techniques, people often experience major life change in just one session.

How can that be? It’s because each of these healing techniques can change your life-script, your subconscious operating system in just minutes. It’s almost literally like back-spacing out a line of defective computer code and writing in a good line.

Essentially, each of us has two separate computers in our brain. We have a self-aware computer which we call the conscious part of ourselves. This is the computer which we use for processing our daily thinking and feeling. Here, we can decide many

Please Don’t Cheat Me! by Brian Eastman

things about ourselves. We have the illusion that whatever decisions we make in our conscious mind, we can make happen.

But the other computer, the subconscious, actually sits at the controls of our lives. It operates based not on today’s experience, but rather on an operating system written by our life experiences from pre-birth to age 10. Current experience doesn’t easily change this operating system. That’s why most other therapies take a long time to create life change.

So even if you consciously have decided to believe “I am loved by God,” your subconscious may well be operating under the statement “I am a mistake; not even God wants me.” And all the conscious believing you do won’t cause the subconscious to change its opposing belief statement or the many negative life experiences which the belief generates.

So don’t call yourself a failure if the life-changing beliefs you have added to your conscious thinking are failing to have effect. Rather, take yourself to a practitioner of LIIFT or Psych-K or NEAT and discover how quickly you can completely change your life for the better.

Not certain where to locate a practitioner? Contact the author (below) for assistance in finding someone near you.

About the author: Brian Eastman invested 30 years’ research to create the LIIFT process for healing emotional damage. He sees people privately in person, via Skype, and in group sessions in Cincinnati, Hamilton and Dayton, Ohio, and Indianapolis Indiana. He is available to lead LIIFT training seminars and

My Holiday Wishby Cynthia M. Brown

So far, I have not done very well. I still drive too much. I still buy too much stuff in plastic. I still eat too much food that is bad for me. I still do not unplug often enough. I still do not take time for myself and my own interests outside of work.

My wish for myself and for each person this year is that we simply say and mean the word ENOUGH! Let me, as I am, shortcomings and all, be enough! Let me say and mean enough work, enough being plugged in; enough consuming and buying things; enough endless running from place to place. Please let my humble house on my little piece of grass be enough. Let me create from the mountains of things in my basement, a safe haven, a refuge. Please let my friendship, my time and my effort to be in the lives of my family and friends be enough.

Most of all, help me recognize what is truly enough. Help me be able to give the things I do not need to those in

It is that time of year again. We are all thinking about the holiday season and what it means and what we want for ourselves and our world. There is so much need; so much violence; so much fear in our world. I read a statement form a friend the other day, that if people were upset that we send money to other countries and for refugees when our own veterans are in such need, why not get up and do something for that vet instead of complaining about what others are doing…

That got me thinking. I made a commitment when I returned to the city after working in rural Appalachia for almost fi ve years, that I would start trying to make a difference in my own life every day. Instead of trying to save the world, I would focus on making my little corner of the world the safest, healthiest, most peaceful and welcoming place it could be. I promised that I would live my ethics, values and principles, instead of talking about them.

Dec / Jan 2016

Page 25: Infinity December / January 2016

need. Help me find time to help those in need instead of filling my time with running and mindless web searching. Help me make a meaningful difference in the lives of those I know and love and in the lives of those I do not know who live right next to me who may be in need. Give me the courage and wisdom to say no-no more clubs, no more social media platforms, no more meet-ups, no more plastic junk from Walmart, no more buying THINGS as a token of my caring for others. Help me give of myself for myself and for those I love.

I cannot change what is happening in Europe or the Middle East. I cannot make the political machine of this country see reason or understand its lack of humanity. I can only change my world one decision at a time by learning to live more fully with less. I can only be the change I want in the world. And, that is what I wish each and every day. May your holiday be filled with more meaning and less of everything else.

Blue light has been found to be particularly beneficial for boosting your mood — more so than red or green light. While the light used in the featured study included wavelengths between approximately 440 nm and 710 nm (violet, blue, green, yellow, and red light), the impact of blue light on mood could potentially account for some of the benefits seen in this study.

For reference, UVB and UVA, the former of which boosts vitamin D, and the latter of which is associated with skin damage, have wavelengths between 290 and 400 nm. Blue

Blue Light Has Beneficial Effect on Mood

by Dr. Joeseph Mercola

light has a wavelength of about 500 nm, followed by green, and yellow in the 600 nm range.

According to one 2010 study, 10 blue light appears to play a key role in your brain’s ability to process emotions, and its results suggest that spending more time in blue-enriched light could help prevent and/or treat SAD and depression. Blue light is prevalent in outdoor light, so your body absorbs the most during the summer and much less in the winter.

Because of this, researchers have suggested that adding blue light to indoor lighting, as opposed to the standard yellow lights typically used, may help boost mood and productivity year-round, and especially during the winter.

Keep in mind however that blue light at night should be avoided, as it can impair your sleep. One of the reasons for insomnia and poor sleep is due to excessive exposure to blue light-emitting technologies such as TV and computer screens. The blue light depresses melatonin production, thereby preventing you from feeling sleepy.

In a previous interview, researcher Dan Pardi explains the peculiar effect blue light has on your brain, which sheds further light on why it’s so important to expose yourself to blue light during daytime hours, and why you need to avoid it at night:

“[R]ods and cones in the eye ... are specialized cells that can transduce a photo signal into a nerve signal ... In the mid-90s, a different type of cell was discovered ... [called] intrinsically photosensitive Retinal Ganglion Cells (ipRGC). It does the same thing as rods and cones: it transduced light to a nerve signal. But instead of the signal going to your visual cortex, it goes to your master clock. Those cells are most responsive to blue light. If you can block blue light, you can actually create something called circadian darkness or virtual darkness. What that means is that you can see, but your brain doesn’t think that it’s daytime; your brain thinks that it’s in darkness. That is actually a practical solution for living with artificial light in our modern world ...... With more awareness, future digital devices will adjust lighting in the evening to automatically dim and emit amber/red light [instead of blue]. This is much better for healthy circadian rhythms and sleep quality.”

On Angels’ Wings Inspiring Stories of Divine Intervention

This feature has inspired many, and we ask you to send us a short story about something that happened in your life that inspired you. A situation in your life that changed you and that you believe happened with divine intervention – an angelic experience or simply a profound feeling you had that changed your path of direction.

We will publish articles, as we receive them. Please type or print. You do not need to put your whole name and please give a phone number in case we need to reach you if we have a question. The phone number will not be published. Email to [email protected] or mail to: Infinity magazine, 1710 Maplewood Dr. Lebanon, Ohio 45036. The next issue is February/March; Infinity must receive your story by January 10th.

Divine GraceIt was the season of Autumn, the leaves were falling and I found myself reaching for warmer things to wear. In a couple of days, I was going to a show and I was searching to find something nice looking but also comfortable to wear.

Keeping to my schedule was always a daunting task, but somehow I always seem to manage to pull it off day after day.

Checking in with my Mom and letting her know about her Doctor’s appointment was just routine, she was doing okay but had some problems that come with being elderly, and can be expected. She fought many battles with her health but being a bit stubborn and having an iron clad will to live definitely was to her advantage.

The night of the show was great, I was with a group of friends that were just wonderful and it set the pace for the whole evening. I had called my Mom before I went out for the night and she was in good spirits, so it made me feel relaxed and happy. Driving home that night I was tired but was grateful to get out as I don’t have a lot of free time to go to many events with a hectic schedule.

Next morning was typical, except when I called my Mom there was no answer. I repeated the calls several times and still no answer, this was troubling because she usually always answers her phone. It turned out to be a fateful day as my Mom had passed away at her home quite unexpectedly. I was deeply saddened and shocked and I found myself wanting to just give her one last call as most people grieving over the loss of a loved one would feel. Just if I could hear her speak to me one more time would have been of great comfort to me.

I could feel my Mom’s spirit as I made sure with the help of my brothers and sister that we followed her wishes in every detail concerning the funeral. She had requested that at the cemetery, that all of her children, release 6 white balloons representing each of us after the service.

My brother signaled us to let go of the balloons we were holding, he started to speak aloud as all of us were staring at the balloons going towards 2 big trees, and then they got stuck, he attempted to explain maybe why they were appearing to just assemble close to the branches. Not one balloon busted, still staring, we watched the balloons suddenly break free from the trees and float forward to the sky.

What happened next is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. The balloons formed a cross in the sky, we all were breathless and people were speaking aloud describing the balloons as a cross and how beautiful it was. As if that was not enough, the balloons then formed in groups of 2, in a single line up in the sky.

222, being regarded as an angel number may be an affirmation for many things in ones life. To me and I am sure many others would agree, it brought a profound sense of peace and love for me that day. I will always hold the memory of that miraculous occurrence of the balloons close to my heart, as I know my Mom’s spirit was with us at the moment and now forever in our hearts.

your hand with a ruler when you aren’t paying attention. Saturn is that feeling in your gut when one of the engines on your plane flames out. Sure, odds are good that physics are on your side and the crew is qualified to land you safely somewhere. But even if you immediately realize that, your gut also knows that there is Absolutely Jack Squat you can do to affect the outcome, so you might as well pray. Or scream... your call.

Neptune, on the other hand, is the part of us that believes that prayer in such a situation will make the plane slightly less subject to crashing, because -- I dunno, you’ve been really good all year long? Oh look, we’re coming into an airport, so maybe you should ask for a pony while you’re at it.

Yes. I am being entirely too much of a jerk here and you know it. It’s hard not to get frustrated in times of a Saturn-Neptune square. The square aspect is when two planets are 90 degrees apart from each other, and they provoke and annoy each other. The solid foundation Saturn is trying to give you gets melted away by Neptune’s dreamy disregard for reason, and Neptune’s big dreams get slapped around by the cold wind of Reality.

The good news here is that odds are good you’ve lived through this aspect at least once: the last one was in 1999, and you’re still with us... congratulations! Remember how many false alarms there were that the world was going to end back then? Odds are good you don’t remember all of them because there were so many of them at the time, and it was only with the anticlimactic and utter failure of the Y2K Bug to end civilization that we all realized we’d have to suck it

It’s Your Future: Your Horoscope For December 2015-January 2016

(Bucket Not Included)

I have excellent news for you all: you can get through the next two months with your life and sanity intact, and all you’ll need is some friendly advice from an astrologer... and a bucket.

You see, although understanding yourself and your birth chart and your future are all incredibly useful, that alone isn’t enough. You can make changes in your life and in how you do things, but you can’t command the planets to move into a better place for you. They say “you create your own reality,” but this often ignores the fact that even if you do so, there are other realities out there for yours to collide with... and often those realities come with sharper and pointier teeth than yours. And if you smart enough to fashion a reality armed with its own fangs, there will be other realities out there that are more like a sand dune. Even have your path blocked by a sand dune, and did you try punching or kicking or biting it to get it out of your way? How’d that work out for you?

Fortunately, you can always get a bucket. Make sure it’s more than big enough to put your head into it. More on that later.

***

The big event happening in the sky that is affecting us all is the Saturn-Neptune square. Although it was exact in November, these are both slow moving planets so the aspect takes a long time to pass. Saturn is the ultimate Difficult Boss, the teacher who smacks

up and get on with life in the Real World.

There’s something about a tough Saturn-Neptune aspect that brings out the Fear of Doom in people, and can make the world seem a little apocalypse-ish. Imagine for a moment there is one tiny group of people who feel oppressed, yet have God on their side... and they are more than willing to kill anyone who disagrees with them. So they perform relatively small (in military terms) actions against the civilians of those who they perceive to be their enemies (pretty much the entire world). In turn, the rest of the world flips out and starts bombing the crap out of the smaller force, which doesn’t help at all, because the smaller force is scattered and surrounded by civilians, who thus become casualties, who are thus more likely to support the smaller force (because no matter your religion, being blown up by accident just because your neighbor is a terrorist totally sucks). This feeds the cycle and makes things worse for everyone.

When you’re faced by difficult times, getting a reading can help. Few things in life are more useful than objectively knowing your strengths and weaknesses, and when the good times and bad times will peak. But even that can’t make everything completely better, so here’s where that bucket comes in.

-Place your bucket in the bath tub (you could also do this outside, but it’s too cold in December and January for most people’s tastes)

-Fill the bucket with cold water... as cold as you can make it.

-Get into the tub and kneel before the bucket.

-While taking several deep breaths, focus on how the Universe is ultimately a fair and loving place, despite all evidence to the contrary. Know that you are as wonderful and perfect as a person can be, and (while taking that last deep breath) affirm that you are not a human being having a spiritual experience... you are a spiritual being having a human experience.

-Hold your breath, plug your nose, plunge your head into the bucket and scream as long and as loud as you can.

-Remove your head from the bucket, towel off, and

contact an astrologer for a reading.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, everyone!

Here are the highlights of December 2015 and January 2016:

December 4th: Venus enters Scorpio. Whoever you are or whatever your “love style” may be... tramp it up a little. You’d be surprised how well that works.

December 9: Mercury enters Capricorn. Thoughts and words are a little more serious and sharpened. The sensible approach to your dealings is favored.

December 21: Sun enters Capricorn. Be nice to the Capricorns. Being born at this time of year means they usually got stiffed on birthday presents somehow.

December 25: Full Moon in Cancer, and Uranus goes direct. Full Moon Crazy meets... um, Crazy. Perfect for a family gathering! Also: make sure you celebrate the anniversary of a Middle Eastern family far from home seeking a safe place to stay... and finding it. See how far we’ve come?

December 30: Venus enters Sagittarius. The Goddess of Love meets free-wheeling Sagittarius. Table dancing ensues.

January 1: Mercury enters Aquarius. If you have something to say, say it loud. Loud and weird, ideally. Gosh, I wonder if there will be any drinking today to help fuel THAT?

January 4: Mars enters Scorpio. Revenge is a dish best served cold. It also pairs nicely with either red or white wine, a variety of vegetables, and sudden uncontrolled impulses.

January 5: Mercury goes retrograde. Proofread and double check all your communications BEFORE you send them to the wrong person anyway.

January 10: New Moon in Capricorn. Set your intentions for what you want from life in the next month. Then invest some effort into getting them.

January 21: Sun enters Aquarius. Get into the spirit of the Sign and spice up your wardrobe with tinsel!
