h How to Use this Service ManualThis Service Manual is targeted for MSI-authorized dealer or service center. It provides in-depth illustration of disassembling the system. Each topic may be related with each other; hence you are highly recommended to read this guide from cover to cover first. After that, you may go directly to any specific topic that most meets your immediate needs.

h Necessary Tools

A Phillips (crosshead) screwdriver and a flathead screwdriver, can be used to do most of the installation. Choose one with a magnetic head would be better.

Pliers, can be used as an auxiliary tool to connect some connectors or cables.

Box, can collect the screws and tiny objects.

Forceps, can be used to pick up tiny screws or set up the jumpers.

Rubber gloves, can prevent yourself from being incised and suffering the static charge.

h Safety PrecautionsThe following precautions should be observed while handling the system:

■ Place the system on a flat and stable surface. ■ Do not place the system in environments subject to mist, smoke, vibration, exces-sive dust, salty or greasy air, or other corrosive gases and fumes.

■ Do not drop or jolt the system. ■ Do not bump or knock the LCD screen as it is fragile and could break. ■ Do not use another power adapter other than the one enclosed with the system. ■ Disconnect the AC/DC adapter before performing any installation procedures on the system.

h Arrow Used in This Manual

The red arrow shows the push or press direction.

The yellow arrow remarks the position.

h Removing Chassis

Step 1. Place the system veritically on a flat and steady surface. Unlock the screws on the rear side. Keep the screws and covers for later use.

Step 2. Draw and remove the side cover carefully.

Step 3. Draw and remove the other side cover carefully.

Follow the above procedures in re-versed order to replace the chassis.

h Installing Memory Module

Step 1. Flip the slot clips outwards and the memory will spring upwards instantly.

Step 2. Align the notch on the memory with the key on the slot and insert the memory into the slot with the correct orientation.

Step 3. Push down the memory module gently until the slot clips are fastened.

ImportantPush the memory gently downwards until the slot clips click and lock the memory in place.

h Installing M.2 SSD

Step 1. Unlock and remove the M.2 SSD screw. Keep the M.2 SSD screw for later use.

ImportantM2X4 screw * 1.

Step 2. Slide the M.2 SSD device by the direction as the figure shows.

ImportantAlign the notch on the M.2 SSD with the key on the slot and insert the SSD into the slot.

Step 3. Push down the M.2 SSD device and lock it with the M2X4 screw.

ImportantM2X4 screw * 1.

Follow the above procedures in reversed order to remove the M.2 SSD.

Step 2. The load plate will automati-cally lift up as the load lever is pushed to the fully open position.

Step 3. Hold the CPU carefully or it may cause serious damages.

Step 4. Align the notches with the socket alignment keys. Lower the CPU straight down, without tilting or slid-ing the CPU in the socket. Inspect the CPU to check if it is properly seated in the socket.

Step 5. Close and slide the load plate under the retention knob.

Step 6. Close and engage the load lever.

Follow the above procedures in reversed order to uninstall the CPU.

h Installing CPU Cooler

Step 1. Plug the fan power cables to the motherboard.

Step 2. Remove the CPU cooler cap and evenly spread a thin layer of ther-mal paste on the top of the CPU. Put down the CPU cooler until the four screws get wedged into the holes on the mainboard.

ImportantThis will help in heat dissipation and prevent CPU from overheating.

Step 3. Lock the screws in sequence illustrated in the graphic.

h Removing VGA Partition

Step 1. Unlock the screw of the VGA partition.

Step 2. Unlock the screw of the VGA partition on rear side.

Step 3. Press the slot clips to release the VGA partition.

h Installing VGA Card

Step 1. Unlock the screw of the lock bracket.

Important#6-32 screws * 2.

Step 2. Release the lock bracket.

Step 3. Line up the graphics card bracket on the top of the expansion slot. Push the graphics card till it can not go futher. You will hear a "click".

ImportantKeep the gold finger and the slot aligned.

Step 4. Lock the bracket.

Step 5. Lock the bracket screw.

Important#6-32 screws * 2.

ImportantWhen a high end graphics card is installed, the PCIe slot might be distorted for its weight in long term; and then, damage the motherboard. We strongly recommend use the auxiliary graphics card support and graphics card support to sustain its weight.

h Installing 3.5” HDD

Step 1. Find the 3.5” HDD sliding rails in the accessory box. install the sliding rails to both sides of the 3.5” HDD.

Step 2. Slide and push the 3.5” HDD to the bay. When the 3.5” HDD is properly seated, an audible click should be heard.

h Installing 2.5” HDD

Step 1. Find the 2.5” HDD bracket in the accessory box. Keep the screw holes and 2.5” HDD bracket aligned.

Step 2. Lock the screws.

ImportantM3X4 screws * 4, provided by your HDD supplier.

Step 3. Push the 2.5” HDD till it can not go further. Make sure the SATA connectors are connected.

Step 4. Lock the screw.

Follow the above procedures in re-versed order to remove the 2.5” HDD.

h Connecting HDMI Cable

Step 1. Find the HDMI cable in the accessory box. Connect one end to the HDMI output connector on the 1st graphics card and the other to HDMI connector on the rear side.

ImportantThere is a built-in graphics card support in the chassis. You can also use this one to sustain your high end graphics card.

Step 2. The HDMI connector on the front side now is available for con-necting HDMI device such as VR or monitor.
