INDUSTRIAL ELECTROMAGNETICCLUTCH-BRAKE COMBINATIONS
Flange Mounted/Foot MountedClutch-Brakes
PRODUCT FEATURES
• Single Plate Dry Design • No Overlap
• Fast Reaction Time • Low Inertia of Rotating Parts
• Zero Backlash • Special Contoured Spring
• IP 44 Enclosed Housing • Long Service Life
FAST PRECISE START/STOP
OTHER PRODUCTSSIZE SELECTIONCompute the torque requirementand choose the related size forapplications involving low inertiaand low cycling frequency byusing the following formula andapplying the appropriate safetyfactor:Torque (Nm) = 9550 x (kW/RPM)
SAFETY FACTOR (K)Multiply the calculated torquerequirement by the appropriatesafety factor (K). The value of thesafety factor depends on theoperating conditions:
Low masses, equal loading &non-intermittent operation: (2.0).Low masses, light shock load &intermittent operation: (2.5).Medium masses, light shock load& intermittent operation: (3.0).Large masses, strong shock load& intermittent operation: (4.0).
Non-overhauling loads: (2-3). Overhauling loads: (3-4).
Diesel engine drive: (4-5). Compressor drive: (5-6).
It is recommended you make adetailed calculation for your appli-cation.
These products must run dry. Oil, grease, foreign materials and similar such contaminants will affect life and the characteristics of friction materials. No general statement can be made about life of friction materials.

Flange Mounted/Foot Mounted Clutch-Brakes
DIMENSIONS
When D.C. voltage is supplied to the clutch coil the armature is attracted toward the clutch rotor. This clutch engagement accelerates the output shaft (load) to the driven speed. Removing the voltage from the clutch coil and applying it to the brake coil causes the armature to release from the clutch and engage to the brake. This stops the output shaft (load). The single armature prevents simultaneous engagement of the clutch and brake (overlap).
EMTorq clutch-brakes require D.C. supply voltage from A.C./D.C. rectification. Switching on the A.C. side provides a slower engagement/disengagement time. Switching on the D.C. side provides a faster engagement/disengagement time. Use a suitable arc suppressor and capacitor to protect the clutch and brake coil and switch. Engagement/disengagement time is a function of the air gap and type of switching.

When D.C. voltage is supplied to the clutch coil the armature is attracted toward the clutch rotor.
