Using Geocaching as Inspiration for Location Based Technologies

Making the System Intuitive to People’s Routines and Mobile Networks

- Allowing the Environment to inform the user- Delivering new levels of notification based on location, giving notifications as a user wanders throughout their environment- Giving the user a new levels of interaction with their environments

- Giving the user all the advantages of the internet with an intuitive mapping system to educate and entertain the user about their surroundings- Aiding the user in all aspects of existing GPS technology

- Developing the system to notify the user as they carry out their everyday lives- Offering new forms of Networking and Messaging based on location rather than time

Modelling.Testing.ReportsOver two months of modelling and testing helped to deliver both a streamlined operating system and application structure along with, an advanced folding tablet which is easy to use and can be folded and transported using flexible OLED technology. Full scale foam models, along with printed, high resolution, mechanically working models were produced to give a real feel for the proposed product. Also, an entire working operating system was produced to be tested ensuring that users could understand the OS before it hit mass production.

The entiThe entire project was summarized in two concise reports. The first was a summation of all of our groups findings concerning millenials and the increasing role of wireless and location-based communication in their lives. The second report was a step by step justification for the projects’ end results, the products produced, delivering uses and scenarios for the products, along with other findings.

The Cartel was designed to conform to existing RIM specifications, ensuring that the product is manufacturable. The use of Polycarbonate, Polypropylene and Thermoplastic Polyurethane are all used commercially, especially for mobile product usage.

Along with the use of existing technologies, new technologies such asAlong with the use of existing technologies, new technologies such as Organic Light Emitting Diode technologies allow for new flexible screens which use less energy but still provide the same features as existing LED and LCD touch-screens. Special attention had to be made to ensure that there was enough space to incorporate a battery, a PCB and the limitations of the OLED screen. The use of OLED technology gives the end user the benefits of a rigid tablet but making it portable enough to put in ones pocket.

UI Development

A large undertaking was the task of designing the user interface of the GPS Everyday system. From large, extensive design maps and ow charts, to user scenarios, UI screenshots and iconography, the GPS everyday system was thoroughly thought out to the small-est detail.

UX DesignA fully working interface was created to ensure that tasks and actions were

insightful and easy to comprehend. A range of looks and feels were tested and the

result was a colorful and intuitive operating system which is unlike any other system on

the market today.

GOLF CLUB DESIGN

There are few things in life which can relax and aggrevate an individual at precisely the same moment as the game of Golf.

Golf club design requires good aesthetic and an understanding of the weight distribution of golf club. The technologies used in the make-up of a strong club along with the manufacturing processes required to deliver an all around quality product can deliver a tool which can be greatly beneficial to its user.

The majority of these designs consist of graphic, and hand sketching skills.

QUICK SKETCHINGIterations and quick hand drawings allow many combinations of forms, lines and materials. The use of pencil, pen, marker, and simple line drawings allow for a variety of different sketch styles and deliver preliminary outlines for final products.

FINAL RENDERINGFinal renders deliver a 2D or 3D example of what the final design will portray. Using 2D line drawings allows for an accurate underlay to add color break-ups, emphasize contours, and give a realistic size and shape to the clubs. Hand and computer aided rendering soft-wares allow for a vivid and expressive view of the concept.

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

Following the great success of the Pump and the Easy-tone line of shoes, the new Reebok Ziptech technology uses high density foams for cushioning. Through sketch-ing and conceptualization new technologies were derived using some new materials to deliver the next generation of shoe weight absorption. The new technology uses a sheet of hard plastic topped with pressure absorbing foam to create a trampoline effect. Harder plastics are used to surround the cushion to ensure the shoe won’t break.

RESEARCH & SKETCHING

A great deal of research goes into every shoe designed on the market. A Positioning Matrix allows designers to identify gaps in the market, they also aid designers in the designing of the shoe

when comparing the shoes that already exist.

A great deal of sketching is then done to figure out the style, structure and technological advances to further advance the

engineering of the shoe.

The iF-22 golf shoe is meant to deliver a com-fortable, athletically styled shoe to the links,

allowing for greater comfort from the 1st to the 18th, and keeping you looking good to the 19th.

The innovative Lateral Threads ensure less slipping, and the unique ball marker holder give these shoes a distinct style and character.

DETAILS & FINAL RENDERS

There are many parts which make-up the construction of an athletic schoe. There must

be an accuracte portrayl of where all the materials belong in a 2D drawing to ensure

that the shoe is both stylish and comfortable when being further developed overseas.
