At Indus Super Speciality Hospital Oncology department provides comprehensive Oncology diagnostics and treatment facilities. These include Radiotherapy, Medical Oncology and Surgical removal of cancerous part of the body. The department also enjoys the services of highly experienced Consultants.

Radiotherapy: A computerised treatment-planning system is used for radiotherapy, which has been recently updated to include full three-dimensional facilities for conformal therapy. This will soon be linked to the computerised radiotherapy equipment, to allow high accuracy of verification and recording of radiotherapy treatment.

The department maintains close links with the Department of Diagnostic Radiology, allowing access to ultrasound, computerised tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) facilities. There is also access to a positron-emission tomography (PET) scanner for research.

Medical Oncology: The department has a dedicated team of doctors and trained nursing staff. The state-of-art department has a Day-care Centre well equipped to do all specialised treatment protocols on an out-patient basis. There is also a dedicated in-patient ward for cancer patients.

The department treats all adult and paediatric cancers. It deals with solid tumor malignancies as well as haemato-oncology. There are facilities to take care of immunocompromised patients and high dose chemotherapy.

The department keeps abreast with the latest developments and provides these innovative therapies to all patients. We are doing autologous stem cell transplants in the department and have been using other treatment options like Monoclonal

antibodies, specialised drug delivery systems (home pumps for continuous infusion of drugs). Cancer therapy involves active monitoring of patients and the medical staff is available round the clock. Team work is the essence of oncology practice. We believe in a multimodal approach and work in tandem with surgical oncology and radiation oncology colleagues.

Surgical Oncology: The surgical oncology department has a team of qualified and trained surgical oncologists for every aspect of surgical management for cancer patients. All types of cancer surgeries are done as per international standard in the state-of-art operation theatres. The surgical team is backed by a well equipped postoperative intensive care unit for smooth recovery of all patients.

The surgeon performs the latest techniques in cancer surgery including organ and function preserving surgeries and laser surgery. Breast conserving surgery is performed and where this is not appropriate, breast reconstruction is offered to all patients.

The surgeons have a close liaison with the medical and radiation oncology department and work as a team. The patient and family members benefit from a strong social support group of volunteers attached to this institute.

Our laboratory is well-equipped with the state of the art technology and equipment providing the most sophisticated comprehensive, reliable yet cost effective range of tests.

These tests range from regular or routine haematology, chemistry, and bacteriology tests to the most advanced hormonal, serology, virology by PCR, and food allergy.

Highly qualified, well-trained and dedicated technical staff manages the laboratory and provides specialised phlebotomy services to both adult and paediatric patients.
