Current Condition of Plastic Waste Policy

On progress of Trade Ministry revision for Importation of Non Hazardous Waste regulation :

No more importation of plastic scrap Indonesia will only receive at least in flake or chips or pellets form

HS Code for others (mixed plastic) in the regulation will be deleted

Product of recycling industry using plastic importation could not be plastic bag should be long life product such as rain coat, carpet, kitchen set, etc.

Recommendation for plastic scrap importation could not be issued for the new importer

Needs supporting national data for: Identification of sources of plastic waste

Types of plastic waste

Distribution of plastic waste

Capacity of establishing plastic industry limitation for importation quota

Plastic Industry is being encouraged to use local plastic waste optimally

2. Mainstreaming solid waste management on national and local development planning and implementation.

3. Encouraging producer’s responsibility and commitment

6. Building international cooperation and partnership both global and regional level

OPPORTUNITIES

1. Developing a massive communication, information and education programme

2. Put SDGs goals (11 and 12) and low carbon development as main objectives on national development planning

3. Building a strong and clear regulation and procedure to make business sustainable

4. Applying training, workshop, best practices, study exchanges, etc.

5. Transferring technology know how and innovations in mutual agreement

6. Engaging further international both regional and global collaboration, especially to enhance cooperation under UN Environment and BC framework in the following activities:
