Congress shall make no law…abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated.

The Relationship Between Schools and Minors

• Because every state in the union provides free public education to any minor, there is a whole body of law that has developed around the rights and responsibilities of students. There is also a body of law that has grown up around the rights and responsibilities of schools and their administrators.
