Why integrate long-term perspectives intotoday‘s policy tools?
Ambitious climate/building targets require: everyrenovation opportunity must be exploited withmaximum quality.
Most renovations step-by-step. Often in step-by-steprenovations, lock-ins or suboptimal measures areimplemented.
The renovation context (financial, age, children, …..) iscrucial for the optimal measures. People matter, not just walls and windows.
Advice infrastructure in Germany is well developed. BUT: low activity rate.

● Successor of a rather simple energy audit scheme(„Energiesparcheck“)
● Around 2000 to 3000 audits for privately owned buildingsper year, carried out by architects, engineers, and skilled(trained) craftsmen
● 1 July 2015: Introduction of Renovation Roadmap
● Based on a 3-4 h on-site visit to the property andindividual calculation
● Funded by the State Government; accepted within theRenewable Heating Obligation as one eligible measure
