IMC’s ProCesses ProvIde oPtIonsfor suPerIor ProMotIonal ProduCts

Lost Wax Casting (brass and sterling silver)Lost wax casting involves melting metal. Wax is injected

under pressure into a mold. Next, the wax patterns are

coated with a ceramic material. The ceramic is allowed

to harden and then cured for eight hours at 1400°

Fahrenheit eliminating the wax pattern. Brass (sterling

silver or karat gold), heated to a temperature of 2100°

Fahrenheit, is cast into the cavity. After the metal solidi-

fies, the ceramic material is removed, and the castings

go through eight finishing steps. Lost wax castings are

known for the very high relief and exquisite detail.

Die Striking (brass and nickel silver)Die striking does not involve melting of metal. The

metal is struck under high tonnage (up to 1100 tons)

into a steel die bearing the desired image. The relief is

lower than any of our casting methods, but the detail

is more refined. Blank metal shapes of brass, nickel

silver, or sterling silver are placed into the steel die. The

metal is struck into the dies sometimes up to four or five

times with annealing between steps. Any excess metal

squeezed out of the die cavity is then trimmed away

preparing the product for final finishing.

Centrifugal Rubber Mold Casting (pewter)Centrifugal Rubber Mold Casting also involves pouring

of molten metal. Fine unleaded pewter is poured into a

spinning round mold. When the molten metal hits the

center of the spinning mold, centrifugal force pushes

the metal outward into the cavities. After a short spin

cycle, the products are clipped from the sprue wheel

and prepared for finishing. The process allows for deep

relief and offers flexibility in shape. It is our shortest turn

around time product

Finishes and Color ApplicationIMC is capable of applying a variety of standard and

jewelry finishes. Brass and copper finishes, as well as

gold, silver, and nickel plating can be applied over hand

polished or machine finished products. Epoxy enamel-

ing can be done to match any PMS color.

Emblems

EmblemsWhen does a coin become an emblem? The distinction between coin and emblem is fine, yet when an item is created with the purpose of being attached to another product or substrate; it can be called an emblem. We typically produce emblems just a bit thinner than a coin and often times in a “free form” shape.

Glassware, headwear and presentation materials are common items that have had an emblem attached as an embellishment. However, the list of possibili-ties is long and includes POP/POS displays, signage, awards, furniture, barware/liquor bottles, and count-less other uses. A metal embellishment adds high per-ceived value, an extra dimension of visual desirability and effective branding.

The craftsmen at Indiana Metal Craft produce emblems of fine lead-free pewter and solid brass. A wide selec-tion of finishes and metal plating choices are also available. Emblems can be shipped ready for attach-ment, Indiana Metal Craft can attach to a supplied item, or we will be pleased to source and supply the item of your choosing. General InformationArt, Die, and Product Proof Preparation1. Tooling for our products can be created by a variety of techniques and tooling charges vary with size, method of manufacture, and type of art and die modeling required.

ARTWORK FORMATS1. Black and white camera ready artwork.2. Vector art: Adobe Illustrator (PC/Mac) or Corel Draw (PC).3. Bitmap art — black and white, no shading, not anti-aliased (TIF, JPG, EPS).4. Scans should be larger than actual size and at least 300 dpi. We can also accept laser printed art at a mini-mum of 600 dpi and at a scale of at least 4:1.

We will develop art for jobs with reference material not complying with these guidelines, but additional develop-ment costs may be charged. Creation of artwork will be charged at $75(G) per hour (1/2 hour minimum).

For three dimensional sculpture additional reference material must be provided including photographs, high quality line drawings, or product brochures.

2. For all products we prepare a basic art layout for your approval. After art approval and die development, we submit either a pre-production proof or electronic scan of proof. Pre-production proof charges may apply for certain products. Please contact factory.

3. Our tooling and die development charge is a one time charge to cover all dies and production molds. This charge does not repeat with reorders if reorder is for same product with no changes. We maintain all models, molds, dies, and tools as our property for your exclusive use.

Production TimeAfter pre-production proof/scan has been approved, we will begin production to meet your needs. Production times vary depending on the type of product ordered and your specific requirements. Please be specific about your exact use date so that we can schedule and ship most efficiently. Rush Orders: Just ask, we’ll make every accommodation possible.
