    About us

    The Indian Society for NondestructiveTesting, ISNT is the society for NDTprofessionals and practitioners. Sinceinception in 1972, it offers invaluableresources, information and linkages forindustrial quality development andprofessional development to its members.

    The Objective of the Society is to promotethe awareness of NDT Science andTechnology through education, researchand exchange of technical informationwithin the country and internationally toits members and other professionalsusing NDT. The family of ISNT is morethan 7000 strong. It is a diverse anddynamic family of professionalsrepresenting NDT technicians, scientists,engineers, researchers, manufacturersand academicians - all dedicated toimproving product safety and reliability.

    These specialists represent virtually everyindustry and discipline that may benefitfrom NDT technology.

    ISNT has 20 Chapters all over the countrywith head quarters at Chennai.

    As part of its program for professionaldevelopment, the Society publishes theJournal of NDE every quarter. Theeditorial board of this journal comprises ofeminent national and international NDEexperts. This journal with lucid technical

    articles, back to basics is very popularamong the NDT professionals. It isdistributed to all the members of ISNT,leading educational and corporateinstitutions within India and abroad.

    One of the wings of ISNT is the NationalCertification Board (NCB). NCB has beenrecognized by the Bureau of IndianStandards (the Indian government body

    on standards). NCB has been primarilyresponsible for the training andcertification of NDT personnel in India.The membership of NCB is carefullydrawn with members from public, privatesector organizations, third partyinspection agencies, ministry, regulatorybodies, professional bodies, research andeducational organizations etc. NCB hasformulated its own quality manual incompliance with relevant national andinternational standards. NCB-ISNT,recognized by ASNT as the NSO in India,is a highly appreciated examination

    centre due to its top quality standard oftraining programme, faculty andadministrative efficiency.

    ISNT holds its National NDE Seminarannually which are coordinated andadministered by its various Chaptersacross the country. These Seminars arehighly popular with a large-scaleparticipation.

    The 14th World Conference on NDThosted by ISNT in New Delhi (Dec. 14-16,'96) has earned tremendous

    recognition in the international NDTcommunity. India became the 2nd AsianCountry after Japan to hold thisprestigious Olympics of NDT and quality.Today ISNT has earned a place of prideand eminence among the professionalbodies all over the world. It is the 2ndAsian body (next to Japan) to be anAssociate Member of the EuropeanFederation of NDT (EFNDT).
