Your holiday homework this year is a fun mix of all the aspects of
the language. It has been designed to ensure that you enjoy and
learn at the same time.
CLASS MAGAZINE
1. Every student should bring his contribution to the class magazine
in any field of his/her interest.(short story, crossword puzzles
with answers below, mathematics puzzles with answers below,
articles, drawings, innovative thoughts ..)
2. Contributions should be in neat unruled A4 size sheet with
passport size photograph, name, and class written at the top
right corner.
3. Minimum contribution: one side of A4 sheet
4. Maximum contribution: two sheets of A4 sheet
5. Total maximum no of sheets from a class would be: 60
6. It should be handed over to the class teacher on 10th September
2017.
ENGLISH
1. Read the suggested books and write a Book Review on any of them:

4. In 1994, 15% of the women who went on maternity leave returned to full-
time work, while in 1993 only 12% returned. If the number returning in each
year was 6, how many left to have babies in 1994?
5. Two times a number is equal to six less than three times the number.
What is the number?
6. Rene is 6 years older than her younger sister. After 1 0 years, the sum of
their ages will be 50 years. Find their present ages.
7. The length of a rectangle is 10 m more than its breadth. If the perimeter
of rectangle is 80 m, find the dimensions of the rectangle.
8. A 300 m long wire is used to fence a rectangular plot whose length is
twice its width. Find the length and breadth of the plot.
9. The denominator of a fraction is greater than the numerator by 8. If the
numerator is increased by 17 and denominator is decreased by 1, the number
obtained is 3/2, find the fraction.
10. A sum of $2700 is to be given in the form of 63 prizes. If the prize is of
either $100 or $25, find the number of prizes of each type.
11. In a class of 42 students, the number of boys is 2/5 of the girls. Find the
number of boys and girls in the class.

12. Among the two supplementary angles, the measure of the larger angle is
36 more than the measure of smaller. Find their measures.
13. My mother is 12 years more than twice my age. After 8 years, my
mothers age will be 20 years less than three times my age. Find my age and
my mothers age.
14. In an isosceles triangle, the base angles are equal and the vertex angle is
80. Find the measure of the base angles.
15. Admans father is 49 years old. He is 5 years older than four times
Admans age. What is Admans age?
16. The cost of a pencil is 25 cents more than the cost of an eraser. If the cost
of 8 pencils and 10 erasers is $12.80, find the cost of each.
17. Divide 36 into two parts in such a way that 1/5 of one part is equal to 1/7
of the other.
18. The length of the rectangle exceeds its breadth by 3 cm. If the length and
breadth are each increased by 2 cm, then the area of new rectangle will be 70
sq. cm more than that of the given rectangle. Find the length and breadth of
the given rectangle.
