Dr. Roshan Lal Dahiya, Conference DirectorrdFirst International & 3 Indian Psychological Science Congress

Chandigarh, India, February 24-25, 2014

Dear Dr. Dahiya,This is my pleasure to write a good wish message for your Conference. As you know, the future of

psychology in India depends on how psychology can help facing the challenges of multifarious problems of individual, family, social, and national lives of the people of India. The academic growth of psychology in the form of theoretical teaching in growing number of colleges and universities will not be fruitful unless the psychological knowledge is moulded in a way that it becomes a useful tool to apply for enhancing the national development and improving the quality of life of the people of India.

The Indian Psychologists should keep in mind that the Western Psychology, as such, is unlikely to be a good fit for Indian problems. To make psychology fruitful to the millions of Indian men, women, and children, Indian Psychologists should “Indianize Psychology” by developing and devising indigenous knowledge, skill, methods, tools, and techniques.

If the deliberation of this Congress could make a good step to this end that would be a giant lift for Indian Psychology. With this few words, I wish your Congress a great success. Finally, this may not be a good message. But I honestly believe that this is the right message for Indian Psychology.
