Last month on 19.1.14. We had “National Polio Plus day. It is our duty that every Children between 0-5yrs

should he Vaccinated with Polio drops. To maintain ‘Zero Polio’

19.1.14 at 5 pm WE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO FELICITATE YOUNG SCIENTISTS OF KAP (Kumari Ariviyal Peravai)

On 26.1.14 at 9 am we conducted a mega medical Camp and awareness Programme at a village Pettapalayam, Mohanur, along with Trinity college for Women(NSS), Thangam Hospital Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme. I thank all the Doctors, Paramedical Staffs and Trinity Students who made the Camp Success.

Pongal Vizha was celebrated on 26-01-2014.

We had funny games for all categories where everybody enjoyed. Prizes were distributed for the winners.

On 26.1.14 we had Republic day celebration followed by CME “Team approach to neurological Problems” by Neuro Foudnation, Salem.

Our IMA Hall is coming up so nicely. I request all the members to contribute liberally.

February 4, the World Cancer Day, was instituted to create awareness about this dreaded disease. This years’ slogan is ‘Debunk the Myth’ about all aspects of cancer with education, screening and mass media communication, so as to curb the stigma associated with cancer. In light of this the Namakkal IMA in association with the National Social Service (NSS) of Trinity Academy College, Namakkal, conducted a free camp in the Mohanur Sugar Mills’ Campus with Cancer awareness as a central theme.

A special group of dedicated to women headed by our NIMA President Dr Malliga, performed Pap Smear based Cervical Cancer Screening for women on the spot. Efficient administration, conducted by the NSS, enabled seamless distribution of patients to the doctors, who whole heartedly examined, advised and in many patients provided immediate free medicines that were made available for the camp. The camp was further attended by Dr Saravana Rajamanickam, a Surgical Oncologist, from Tata Memorial Hospital, in Mumbai. Following the camp, an interactive Q&A session was organized for the General public and the NSS students, where many a cancer ‘myth’ was dispelled. In all, a satisfying effort to start the long fight against cancer has just begun.
