What? Why? How?
Carnivorous plants are plants that can eat insects and/or small animals
They get their energy the same way the other plants do…. Photosynthesis
They eat insects and other small animals because they live in places where the soil is low in nutrients from their “PREY”
As you can see some Carnivorous Plants have a sticky substance that catches flies on their leaves.
Others drown the insects in a pitcher shape that is part of plant.eat insects and/or small animals.
Venus fly trap(Dionaea)
It is the most commonly known carnivorous plantsThe leaf closes when the tiny hairs inside the leaf are touchedThe picture (right) shows a leaf with an unusual double trap.( it is the only leaf known to have to grown like that)
Pitfall Traps(Pitcher Plant)
The pitcher plant is basically a slippery leaf wrapped into a tube shape that contains a pool of digestive enzymes at the bottom
Bladder traps(Bladder wort)
The Bladderwort is like an under water Venus Fly Trap. The bladders suck in and trap water insects.
