Clyde "Chip" Walking Elk was born on January 14, 1977 to Clyde "Butch" and Shirley Walking Elk at Indian Health Service, Fort Yates ND. Chip attended the Kenel Headstart when he was three to five years old. In 1983 he attended the Children's Care Hospital and School at Sioux Falls, SD grades 1-12 and graduated from there. He received his baptismal, first Holy Communion and Confirmation at As- sumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kenel. In 1998 he moved to Aberdeen in his first apartment and worked for Sheldahl (Assembly of Auto Parts) and Cardinal Tool. In 2010, he moved to Mobridge SD to be closer to family. Born with a handicap, he never allowed that to deter him from all his traveling experienc- es. In 1991 he traveled to New York as a Champion Defender for a group called Kids for Saving Earth. He seen the Statue of Liberty. He also attended NASCAR racing in Florida with a friend. One of his wishes was to attend the Sturgis Rally in Sturgis SD and his friend made his dream come true and he made it to the Rally's. His love for Harley Davidson was unique. He loved everything that had anything to do with "Harley's" especially t-shirts, which was the only t-shirts he wore. Chip is survived by his parents Clyde Walking Elk and Shirley Poitra. His Sisters: Brenda Molash of Rapid City SD, Claudette (Ridge) Stricker of Kenel SD, Clau- dia (Rodney) Walking Elk of Kenel SD, Melanie Baker of Bismarck ND, Jody Kelsch of Mobridge SD. Brothers: Todd (Irma) Walking Elk of Kenel SD, Craig Walking Elk of Kenel SD, Phillip (Tami) Birdhorse of Wakpala SD, Mitch Franklin of Crow Creek SD, John (Raquel) Franklin of Selfridge ND, Joe (Stacy) Fischer of Sidney MT. Preceded in Death are his Paternal Grandparents Mark and Margaret Walking Elk, Maternal Grandparents George and Mary Jane Left Hand, Brothers Dennis and Sandy Walking Elk, Nephew Dusty “Hoff” Walking Elk, Granddaughter Journey Walking Elk, Godmother Elsie Martin and Niece Caitlin Peters.
