About the PGPR SocietyThe Asian PGPR Society for Sustainable Agriculture is a non-profit scientific society, was formed and registered in India during 2009 and subsequently in USA to enable scientists, researchers, academicians, government groups, students, farmers and industry personnel throughout the globe. The purpose of the society is to advance state-of-the-art science through domestic and international meetings that facilitate communication, cooperation and collaboration among scientists involved in PGPR research.
The Society actively promotes research, development, funding, and public awareness through the society newsletters and website. On the international front, we have conducted our First Asian PGPR Conference in ANGRAU, Hyderabad, India in 2009; The Second Conference in Beijing, China during 2011, The 3rd Conference in Manila, Philippines during
th2013 and the 4 Conference in Hanoi, Vietnam 2015 with great success. More than 200 participants attended these Conferences from several Asian countries including India. We are committed to organize this kind of meeting every two years with in Asian countries and the 5th Conference is scheduled to be held in Bogor, Indonesia during 2017. Two Indian Chapter of workshops were conducted in Baroda (2013) and Varanasi (2014) with tremendous response from PGPR scientists of India.
PGPR (Biofertilizers & Biofungicides) are Plant Growth-Promoting Rhizobacteria defined as root-colonizing bacteria that exert beneficial traits on plant-growth and development. Root colonization comprises the ability of PGPR to establish on or in the root or rhizosphere to multiply, survive and colonize along the growing root in the presence of the indigenous microflora. PGPR are considered as efficient microbial competitors in the soil-root zone. Genera of PGPR generally include, Arthrobacter, Azospirillum, Bacillus, Bradyrhizobium, Frankia, Pseudomonas, Rhizobium, Serratia, Thiobacillus, and others. In addition to plant growth promotion, PGPR are also used for controlling several plant pathogens, enhancement of nutrient up-take and in rhizomediation. PGPR exert beneficial effects on plant growth and development by a wide variety of mechanisms. To be an effective PGPR, bacteria must be able to colonize roots because bacteria need to establish itself in the rhizosphere at population densities sufficient to produce the beneficial effects. The exact mechanism by which PGPR stimulate plant growth is not clearly established, although several hypotheses such as production of phytohormones, suppression of deleterious organisms, activation of phosphate solubilization, and promotion of the mineral nutrient uptake are usually believed to be involved.
In the context of increasing international concern for food and environmental quality, the use of PGPR for reducing chemical inputs in agriculture is a potentially important issue. PGPR have gained world-wide importance and acceptance for sustainable agricultural benefits. PGPR's are the potential tools for future of sustainable agriculture. Currently, there is an active and growing group of researchers working on fundamental and applied aspects of PGPR. The application and commercialization of PGPR for sustainable agriculture is a growing and demanding market world-wide.
About the venue: NASC Complex, New Delhi, IndiaNational Agriculture Science Centre is a prestigious complex built by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research spread
over an area of around 22 acres with multidimensional state of the art facilities like a National Agricultural Museum,
Symposia Complex, large underground parking, offices of the international and national organizations of agricultural
research, National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS), Association of Agricultural Universities of India, lush green
large landscapes and a centrally air conditioned International Guest House comprising of single/double rooms and suites
each equipped with modern facilities, telephone, internet, TVs, etc.
1. Basis of plant-microbe interaction for plant health and promotion(Molecular basis of plant microbe interactions; Rhizosphere microbiome; Molecular basis of microbe triggered
plant growth promotion; Endophytic microbes and their role in plant health and promotion; Legume and non-
legume biological nitrogen fixation; Microbe induced plant genes, etc.)2. Application technologies
(Delivery, Formulations, Technology transfer, Up-scaling and production, Role of industries, Biosafety and risk
analysis, Registration, Case studies and success stories on PGPR applications, etc.)
The Asian PGPR Society Indian Chapter of Satellite workshop organizing committee solicits Abstracts for the meeting.
The technical program is being planned to provide the latest scientific information and technologies of PGPR. There will
be two kinds of presentations, Oral and Posters. Oral presentations are limited to 16, and will be selected from the
submitted abstracts or by special invitation by the organizing committee.
Abstracts must report results of original research or other activity of significant merit that relates to PGPR and the related industry which includes introduction and review of literature, objectives, methods, results, and conclusion/significance of the research to the science of PGPR. Abstracts should not exceed to 300 words excluding authors and their affiliations.?
?
?
?
On-line submission at is strongly encouraged.Abstracts may be also submitted by mail to: or Please contact the Secretariat ( ) if you do not receive confirmation regarding receipt of your abstract within 10 days.Poster papers have equal status with invited oral presentations. Abstracts of papers will be printed and available to all conference delegates.
.
A display panel will be allocated to each poster. Use standard 30" x 40" (76 cm x 100 cm) poster board, with 30" (76cm) edge along the top and bottom. The organizer will supply dual scotch tape to attach the posters to the panel. No pens, pins or writing materials may be used on the display panels. Posters must be legible from a distance of at least 2 metres. Heading and subtitles should have the smallest letters in 80-point font (lowercase 12 mm, capitals 17 mm). In the text the smaller letters should be 36-point font (lowercase 7 mm, capitals 9 mm) with a line thickness of 1 mm. Each poster should preferably have a single, easy to follow message, be readable in a short time, prepared in an eye-catching, logical layout and include authors' names and affiliation below the title. Use color pictures, graphs and diagrams in preference to tables.

A rice landrace “Vanasurya” was identified to be blast resistant after multilocation evaluation under uniform blast nursery (UBN). The
F2 population derived from the cross between Vanasurya x susceptible rice cultivar, CO 39 showed a segregation of 3R:1S, which
revealed that the resistance to blast disease is governed by a single dominant gene ............................
