Urban braille is an accessible sidewalk system which is based on barrier-free design principles. It is designed to serve the needs of the blind, the visually impaired, the elderly, the infirm, users of mobility devices such as wheelchairs and motorized scooters, the parent with a stroller, in addition to the general public. Urban braille uses identifiable features such as bright contrast colours and textured concrete to guide the visually impaired as they navigate outdoor spaces.
