Reception to International guests

Installation of International President Ym.Finn A.Pedersen

Excerpt from the acceptance speech of Area President Isaac Palathinkal

International President of 2011-12, Ym.Finn A.Pedersen, respected International officers and guests, India Area

leaders, my dear fellow Y’s Men, Menettes, Lings and guests,

First of all let me thank the God Almighty for all the blessings, He has been showering on me, my family, my Club

and our dear Movement through out the past and pray that we continue to receive it.

I thank my IP, Ym.Finn for installing me into this august office. I also thank my colleague and friend Ym.Johnson

for introducing me and my cabinet to you.

On this auspicious occasion, my memories go back to 1980, when I joined the great Movement and then my voyage through the

years till date. I joined the Movement by accident! It was Oommen Johnson, my friend and official colleague, who introduced and

inspired me to join the Movement as a charter member of the Y’s Men’s Club of Ernakulam South in the year 1980. What he told

me was the importance of our Movement with regard to the co-operation with YMCA and the family approach we follow. He was

right and now I enjoy my life in Y’sdom.

During the f irst 10 years, I never thought of going up in the hierarchy and remained at Club level. Then it was my senior friends in my

Club, Ym.K.R.Nair who taught me to compere in meetings and Ym.N.P.Mathai who taught me how to run a Club, who inspired me

take the leadership of the Club and further. It was my veteran friend Ym.K.O.Abraham, who now lives with the God, who

passionately compelled me to go still higher up in the hierarchy and become a District Governor.

I thank my Guru Ym.Tharakan, who first inducted me into a Regiona l Cabinet, when he was the Regional Director, Ym.C.K.Thomas,

who for the firs t time nominated me as a Regional Service Director, when he was the RD and as an Area Service Director, when he

Entertainments, enjoyed by delegates

was India Area President. Ym.M.V.Mathew and Ym.Tharakan showed their confidence in me when they nominated me as their Area

Secretary. With gratitude, I am indebted to Ym.Jacob Cherian, who for the time nominated me as an International Service Director,

which gave me internationa l exposure and friendship with lot of g reat International lea ders.

Along with all these tall leaders, I also owe my growth in Y’sdom to my old time college mate and my colleague in my Club Prof.

K.P.Kuriakose, who always came forward and supported me in all my assignments. He left us for his heavenly abode when I was

travelling as BF delegate to Finland and Sweden. I pay my homage to him.

All these put together is my voyage in Y’sdom and I thank all my Indian and Interna tional leaders, who always supported and guided

me.

I do not want to prolong my speech and so, am cutting it short, sharing with you my dreams for 2011-12 and beyond.

• I dream of an India Area with Good and steady membership growth following the concept of ‘Onward with family’ and

‘Cosmopolitan outlook’

• I dream of an India Area, doing excellent and useful community service to our less fortunate brothers and sisters in the socie ty,

based on ‘Cancer & Palliative Care’

• I dream of an India Area, which supports the International with handsome contributions to Inte rnational Projects

• I dream of an India Area , which always make ‘on time payment of dues’ to the Inte rnational and Area

• I dream of an India Area, which through its thoughts and deeds build a good image for the Movement

and finally

• I dream of an India Area, which is always Straight forward in thoughts and Transparent in deeds

In the name of the Almighty, I accept the responsibility entrusted to me and declare that I will do my best to make India a role

model for other Areas, in all the activities of our great Movement. Thank you.
