Are You Kidding Me??!!And making (almost)
headlines in the news. I'mtalking about OrenthalJames Simpson, who is ap-parently posting messageson Twitter*tm, altho itseems that the twits whooperate Twitter*tm, withnames like Donald Trumpas regular contributors, aresaying his (fairly new) ven-ture into social media is'encountering problems'.Imagine. And altho Rotzyhas zero interest in what-ever Simpson may have tosay or write, in a relativelyshort trip to Google*tm, itstated that somehow, somewhere, some750,000 people appar-ently (not to mentionamazingly!) DO! Imagine!!For those with short mem-ories, and if yours truly's isstill functioning, Simpsonwas found Not Guilty forthe brutal murders of his
ex-wife and her beau...in acarnival-like trial that wentfar beyond reality, a farcewhich became a completeand total embarassmentto the US Justice System. And the whole worldwatched the verdict on TV!As Simpson hugged John-nie C. and Marcia andChris looked like they hadbeen kicked in the gut.Hard! It clearly evolvedinto a trial about'race/racism' rather than'two homicides'. In the end,it was Mr. Goldman's 'CivilSuit' that eventually putSimpson behind bars...notfor nearly long enough tomy thinking, but what do Iknow? As to his Twitter*tmaccount, I DO know....afterglancing through re-sponses from a coupledozen of Simpson's750,000 readers to some-thing he had Twitted, notone of them supportedhim, and, all but 2 or 3 of'em couldn't/wouldn't bepublished in The Times-Star or any other newspa-per. Imagine!!!
Andrea, Andrea, Andrea!!!Methinks I first saw/read
it on the Internet....by thebye, I'm talking about An-drea Horwath, long-tymeleader of the Ontario NDP,however, after trying to
fathom her big new sellingpoint (platform?) Rotzy iswondering just how muchlonger she will remain incharge of the troops!? Incase you didn't catch it,she wants her party topush for lowering the legalvoting age in Ontario to14! Yes....FOURTEEN!!! Whatin hell was/is she thinking? She ought to check thestats as to how many 18-19 year-olds bother cast-ing a ballot, then askherself how many 14 year-olds are capable of decid-ing (*see below) whom tovote for? and just maybeeven wonder why? Well, one of the "F/N" readershipactually appears to agreewith Ms. Horwath droppingit to 14, however he addsan asterisk and makes adefinite point of addingthat ''the 'potential voter'MUST decide (*see above)which 'gender' he or she isgoing to be within their13th year'', and at leasttwo weeks BEFORE their14th birthday! No lastminute changing of themind, eh? I'm interested tosee if Andrea's OrangeTeam will back her?....orsack her? If you askme....hell, even if youdon't....it's the dumbest linea Canadian politician hascome up with for a longtyme. Actually, it's the 'sec-ond dumbest'....the dumb-est is coming up in thenext item. (*see below)
Q.O.T.W.The "F/N" Quote Of The
Week has been awol for awhile, but it's back thisweek....BIG TYME!! It alsohappens to grab the'dumbest line from an MPPwho hails from Ontario'award (*see above). Pre-mier Doug Ford left poorAndrea in the dust lastweek when he boldly an-nounced to most/all of themedia that his ''PC cabinetis the best cabinet Ontariohas ever had! Ever". Then,a day (or perhaps two)later, he shoved them intothe 'shredder'. I think Ms.Mulroney was one of themore prominent names tobe axed, but thee biggiewas/is Vic Fedeli, The Min-ister Of Money, or Financeif you prefer. Well sir/m'am,Vic is now the Minister ofNothing Of Any Conse-quence. From the Pent-house to theOuthouse....ridin high inMay, shot down in June(with lyric apologies toFrank Sinatra). Critics aresaying the MPP from TheSault failed poorly at 'sell-ing the budget to Ontari-ans'...and that didn't helpstop Ford's PC from almostbottoming out on theQueens Park PopularityPole/Poll. Anyway, I needto admit something rightnow....after the last vote Idespised Doug Ford....butI'm slowly coming aroundto quite enjoying the guy!In fact, I got to thinking that
he reminds me of a come-dian, that I can't yet put aname to....it's not Don Rick-les or Louie the fat guywho is alwayssweating....but Ford's toocool to be sweating. If y'allhave any ideas on whomit may be, lemme know,OK?
More Political StuffWith Fridays being Order
in/Take Out Day for Miz. Joand Rotzy here at 555 Har-ris Place, we decided on apizza from 'PizzaPizza'....medium with pep-peroni, onions and olives....I paid for it and the guysaid 'about 15 minutes,sir'....hence I went out for apuff (or two) as Jo Annwaited in Edna Equinox, and I spotted a large Fed-eral Liberal Riding Office,so just out of curiosity, Istrolled over and went in. Iguess it used to be a goodsized store/business thereand three people were sit-ting at a table. I noticed Iwas surrounded by brightcolours and rainbows(?)everywhere, so I grabbeda hand fan for Miz. Jo, thenI was greeted by Jamie....aVERY enthusiastic guy, whoproudly let me know thatthis riding's Liberals werethe FIRST in all of Canadato open an office when theOctober Election wascalled. Unfortunately, hisenthusiasm ebbed consid-erably....in truth it appearedthe wind went right out ofhis sails completely when Iasked him ''who do youhave running for you inBtfd?''. After a number ofreasons/excuses for notyet naming a candidate Ireplied, ''hey! you've stillgot almost four months toget one out there on thehustings''. Not sure if hebought that, so I wishedhim 'good luck' and wentfor my pizza. It was good, but not in the same leagueas Sam's in Nakina!! By theway, we both send ourbest wishes for Nakina'sJuly One....kid's games, splash, BBQ'd burgs anddogs, chili-cook off.....andThe Parade!!!
*Thought Of The Day...Don-t'cha hate it when you seesome olde person, then re-alize you went to highschool together?!

Truths for the TrailINNER TOUGHNESS
There are 1,130 frostbittenmiles, mountain ranges, blizzards, dangerousbeasts, and frozen seasbetween Anchorage andNome, Alaska. This re-markable trek is the sceneof the ultimate endurancetest known as the IditarodSled Dog Race, wheretwelve huskies pull a sledand its driver through themost grueling, inhumanconditions one canfathom. One frequentchampion was the lateSusan Butcher, a womanwhose tough-mindedfocus on winning gainedher much success. The secret, she wouldoften tell people, was herown mind-set and thetraining of her dogs, whichgave new meaning to theword "serious." Her 150-dog kennel was amazingto behold. After eachpup's birth, while it was still
blind, she held it in herhands and breathed herbreath into its nose. Thatway, she claimed, eachpup would associate hersmell with comfort and en-couragement. She person-ally fed, trained, massaged, and—on a rota-tion basis—slept with eachdog. She personallynursed them to healthwhen they were injured. She was infinitely patientwith them, talked to them, believed in them, evensang to them. The objec-tive? Susan believedbonding with them wouldgain their trust and com-mitment. Her work paidoff. They saved her life onthe trail more than once.Back in 1979, on a 44 dayexcursion, she led her dogteam to the 20,320-footsummit of Mount McKinley. What a remarkablewoman! A reporter oncedescribed her as having "astiff spine and a stubborn
mind" which was what sheneeded to endure suchobstacles as predator at-tacks and blizzards so se-vere that one time for fivehours she couldn't see thelead dog before suddenlyplunged into icy waters.Susan Butcher was fo-cused and driven with pas-sion. She succeededthrough perseverance. The Bible parallels theChristian life with many oc-cupations; from farmingand athletics to being asoldier serving in God’sarmy. Whether sowingand reaping, running withstrength to finish a race, orequipping ourselves withthe armour of truth andenlisting in the battle, thebeliever in Christ is calledto live intentionally –withboth passion and purpose! The Christian’s journey inthis life is not the Iditarod. However, to live a life ofvictory over sin, self andthe world, God calls us,through the enablement ofthe indwelling Holy Spirit,to live out our faith withperseverance, toughness, and grit. You see, one’s
faith is only as strong asthe object of their faith. When attempting to helpsomeone else who is fac-ing a difficult time in life,I’ve heard folks give theadvice “just have faith!”When I hear this, I cringe. You see, a person cannotjust “have faith.” Faith re-quires an OBJECT. Whenthe object of our faith is therisen Christ, we are em-powered from above toface any life situation – nomatter what the difficulty!
“I can do ALL thingsthrough Christ whostrengthens me” Philippians 4:13
“Come to me, all wholabor and are heavy
laden, and I will give yourest.” Matthew 11:28
“… I will never leave theenor forsake thee” Hebrews 13:5
Always remember, 1 +God = the majority!
Until next week, keep youreyes turned upward!
Every Canadian has a right to safe, affordable housing. And for the first time in our history, Canada recognizesthat right. We also have the most ambitious plan ever inour history to sustain and create affordable housingacross our country. The National Housing Strategy com-mits $40 billion over the next decade to create more af-fordable housing and help people find and stay in theirhomes. Since taking office in 2015, we’ve invested more than $7billion already in Canada’s housing sector, and helpedmore than 1 million Canadians find a place to call home. Now, thanks to the National Housing Strategy Act, we’remaking sure that this is just the beginning, and that thefederal government will be a full partner in helping moreCanadians have a place to call home today and in thefuture. We’re enshrining the right to housing into law, making sure that even the most vulnerable in our com-munities are heard by the highest levels of government. And we are helping even more middle class Canadians. For too many first-time home buyers, house prices keptmany young Canadians out of the housing market. Andfor ten years, Conservative politicians like StephenHarper and Andrew Scheer did nothing to address hous-ing affordability — pushing home ownership further outof reach and putting household debt on the rise. That’s why we are acting now to make sure homeown-ership remains an achievable dream, not a privilege af-forded to only the richest few. We know that for too manypeople working for a better future for their families, own-ing a home seemed like a distant dream. So we intro-duced the First-Time Homebuyer Incentive, which willstart this September. This new program will make home ownership more af-fordable for first-time buyers by allowing them to lowertheir monthly mortgage payments without increasingtheir down payment. It also means more money stays inthe pockets of middle class Canadians.Everyone deserves a fair chance at success. And thatstarts with a place to call home.

(NC) Now that the weatheris warming up, people aregearing up for garage saleseason. If you’re itching todo some spring cleaningand offload your excessstuff, here are some waysto pull off your best garagesale yet:
Decide on a date and startputting up flyers in theneighbourhood or con-sider advertising in yourlocal paper. Do this at leasta week in advance. Checkthe weather forecast be-fore you advertise becauserainy days keep buyers
away. Consider joining forceswith other neighbours fora street sale that will drawa bigger crowd.Sort your items into “sell”and “donate” piles. Keep inmind that clothes andshoes are better to donateas you’ll make a small frac-tion on these items, even ifthey’re in good condition.Set up a table and chair soyou have a place to cashpeople out and stay com-fortable. Don’t forget tohave plenty of change onhand.Price items clearly usingpricing stickers found atthe dollar store, or in apinch masking tape andmarker will work just fine.Don’t be too sentimentaland overprice items; if indoubt, seek advice onprices from an objectivefriend.Bundle items like DVDs,toys and books for oneprice to catch a buyer’s’ at-tention.At the end of the day, ifyou want to move what’sleft, get shoppers to fill upa bag of items for a flatfee. When it comes to your do-nate pile (and smallhousehold items includingtoys, electronics, linens, sleeping bags, sportsequipment and anythingleft), remember that chari-table organizations suchas Diabetes Canada arealways looking for items. You can donate yourwares at one of their2,000 Ontario-based do-nation bins or schedule afree home pickup at de-clutter.diabetes.ca.

New family financial literacy resourcesencourage families to openly discuss money
BRAMPTON, Ontario, June3, 2019 – /COMMUNITY-WIRE/ – ABC Life LiteracyCanada (ABC) is pleased toannounce that its HSBCFamily Literacy First pro-gram has been renewedwith a new focus on familyfinancial literacy. ABC willdesign three new “Num-bers & Cents” family finan-cial literacy modules, all ofwhich will be available inEnglish, French and Simpli-fied Chinese.
The funding renewal andnew program focus wasannounced by HSBC BankCanada (HSBC), the pro-gram’s title supporter, onSaturday at the opening ofa new branch in Brampton,Ontario.
The first module is availablenow atFamilyLiteracyFirst.ca andcovers topics such ascounting money, makingchange, and adding andsubtracting. Two additionalmodules which will coveressential financial literacyskills such as budgeting, ex-penses and saving for the
future, will be released atthe end of summer.
Workbooks are written inclear language for familieswith children aged six to 11and have customized cur-riculum grids to supportprovincial and territorialcurriculum. Additionally, fa-cilitator training materialswill be available for freedownload through an on-line learning platform.
“Everyone knows it’s impor-tant to read to your kids, butwe often forget the impor-tance of talking openlyabout money,” says MackRogers, Executive Directorof ABC Life LiteracyCanada. “Helping kids setgood habits from a youngage and acting as a rolemodel with money is vitalto improving children’sconfidence and success infinancial literacy. We’rethrilled that HSBC has re-newed its support to de-velop valuable resourcesthat are extremely popularand helpful for not onlyfamilies but literacy practi-tioners as well.”These new
resources aim to bring par-ents and children togetherto practice family financialliteracy – something that isoften overlooked.
To celebrate the launch ofthe new resources, ABC ishosting workshops at com-munity literacy organiza-tions in Vancouver, Toronto,Montreal and Calgarywhere HSBC staff volunteer-tutors will work directly withfamilies using the newworkbooks.
“Financial literacy educa-tion is becoming increas-ingly important. We are sohappy to evolve our part-nership with ABC Life Liter-acy to focus on this vital lifeskill,” says David Kuo, Headof Branch Network, Ontarioand an HSBC executivesponsor of ABC Life Liter-acy. “Having volunteeredwith the organization my-self, I have seen first-hand
how the connections be-tween volunteers and par-ticipants create the kinds ofconnections that help com-munities thrive. I am ex-cited to help futureparticipants learn the im-portant money manage-ment skills that will supportthem throughout their life.”HSBC has been a long-timecharitable partner of ABCsince 2011. The HSBC Fam-ily Literacy First program
was introduced in 2015and since then, the pro-gram has reached over40,000 individuals and thematerials have been down-loaded and distributedmore than 320,000 times.More than 300 HSBC em-ployees have volunteeredwith the program.
