Orca Bath Lift Range

Aquatec Bath Lifters - Tried and trusted by healthcare professionals.

The Aquatec Orca familiy is comprised of superior quality and durable bath lifters that are designed to offer comfort, safety and reassurance to those most in need of support as they bathe. The Orca incorporates increased leg room, ease of disassembly and an ergonomic, floating hand control that contains the light weight battery. The Orca has an impressive weight limit of 140 kg (22 stone) as standard, while the Orca XL will support patients up to 170 kg (26.5 stone).

An emphasis on ergonomic design allows the Orca to sit lower and further towards the back of the bath, giving increased leg room for deeper and more relaxed bathing. The increased height of the backrest provides full support whilst upright or reclined.

Height adaptors The Orca can be adapted to suit a full range of bath heights. Height adapters can be quickly fitted to the bath lift base.

Large oyster cups These extra large oyster cups allow the Orca to adhere to steeply curved and textured baths providing exceptional stability and safety. Smaller cups are available as an option.

Supported transfers For those who require additional support during transfer, the Aquatec Trans allows the client to slide onto the seat and swivel into the bath with the minimum of effort.■ Product Code: 4.03.002

Refresh kitThe Orca refresh kit comprises a full set of covers, oyster suction cups, side flap diverters and user guide. Ideal for re-issue.■ Product code: 1471017

Safe hand control fitting The hand control connects within seconds to the back of the Orca, providing a secure and completely watertight seal. Effortlessly released with just one hand.

Compact hand control with integral batteryOrca bath lifts incorporate a revolutionary lightweight battery contained within the ergonomic hand control. Raised profile, coloured buttons and an emergency stop feature allow simple, controlled operation to give reassurance and independence.

Two-piece designWhen pushed forward the Orca’s backrest folds down and automatically unlocks. The backrest and base section can then be removed from the bath with ease. The 2 sections fit neatly into one another to give an extremely compact size for storage.

Textured seating surface The Orca has a textured surface allowing use without covers if desired. The side flaps are hinged flush to the main seating surface and allow comfortable and safe side transfers, without entrapment of skin.

The high boom maximizes space for the client even when the hoist is in the highest position. This gives an ergonomic lift and transfer as the client can be easily rotated in the hoist. This makes placing the client into a bed/wheelchair much easier for the carer. The optimization of space creates a reduction in risk of injury as the client's knees will not be close to the actuator of the hoist.

Ease of handling: simple to fold, unfold and dismantle without tools

Handling the lifter has been made as smooth and easy as possible as the hoist can easily be folded and unfolded without the need for tools. The Birdie takes up minimal space when stored and is easy to push and transport. If required, the mast and boom can be easily detached from the base (no tools required).

For total security, the hoists come with a snap-lock system, thus minimizing the risk of accident. The lifters are CE-certified in line with the Medical Device Directive 93/42/ECC. To ensure

the hoists comply with EN ISO 10535 (the European standard for hoists) the hoist has been rigorously tested both by Invacare and the German TÜV institute, an accredited external body.

The Invacare Reliant 350 Stand Assist is a compact and 'Active' mobile lifter that provides safe and comfortable assisted transfers for those with limited mobility or rehabilitation needs. Both models come with a belt for increased support around the body and for safe positioning. The Dress Toileting Sling is suitable for those who have limited mobility. The model with head support is designed for clients who also have reduced head control. The Dress Toileting Sling is suitable for those who want to be able to dress and undress during the toilet transfer. It can be used for seated to seated transfers and is very easy to apply.

This sling supports the whole body and the head. The Invacare Comfort Sling is ideally suited to those who have chronic pain. The sling is also useful for above knee amputees, or for those who due to postural position or pain prefer to remain in a seated position. The Standing Transfer Vest is applied around the trunk. The client’s feet must be on the floor and the client must also have some standing ability. The Standing Transfer Vest is used for those with reduced balance and/or walking ability. The vest is especially useful for toileting. It also reduces the risk of injury to the carer.A groin support is available as an accessory to the Standing Transfer Vest. This helps keep the vest in place.

The SB 755 comes with several features to ensure an excellent seating position and to reduce shear and friction during movement. These include an improved auto-regression system, optimised length of mattress platform sections and a leg section that can be lowered below horizontal.Invacare strives to cater for all patients and so offers a length extension of 100 mm at the head and foot of this model to meet the needs of taller users.

Ease of handling

No part of the SB 755 weighs more than 25 kg and dismountable scissors are available as an option.Mounting and dismantling the bed has been made particularly easy to allow for greater ease of transport and storage. The bed can be stored on its base and rolled directly from van to bedroom. Assembly and transportation can be carried out by one person quickly and with minimum effort.

The seat section opens and the two mattress support parts are divided. The mattress platform is detached from the base with a quick release mechanism.

Activate the quick release and the scissor is detached. The handle makes it very easy to dismount.

Effective pressure ulcer prevention

The Invacare Softform Premier features a unique contoured insert pad, constructed from 'keyhole cut' castellated foam cells, which move independently to provide excellent patient comfort, reduce shear and friction and optimise pressure redistribution. The mattress insert has a non glued construction, which allows excellent conformity when profiled on electric bed frames.

The cover is made from a highly chemically resistant polyurethane polymer making it much more resistant to abrasion and damage and swells less with water contact. Static Dynamic Mattress

The air insert contained within the mattress allows stepping up and down between static and dynamic alternating systems with minimum patient disruption.

The ‘Strikethrough Resistant Technology®’ cover is made from a highly chemically resistant polyurethane polymer making it much more resistant to abrasion and damage and also swells less with water contact. When cleaning a cover with ‘Strikethrough Resistant Technology®’, the material changes less and thus reverts to its natural state very

quickly. The time in which the cover is more prone to physical damage is significantly reduced. The cover material still incorporates the key features required in a mattress cover. It is multi stretch, breathable and waterproof with corner welds, reducing the opportunity for accumulation of dust and liquid residues.

Detach the pipes from the foot end of the mattress.

Fit pipes to the Active pump. Simply switch on, no additional adjustments required.

Invacare SoftAIR Pump

The SoftAir pump features simple touch buttons which can be used to adjust pressure, mute the alarm and lock the pump panel. The pump can be set to either a static or dynamic mode, however, when in the static mode, the pump has an effective safety feature which automatically reverts the static mode to alternating mode after 30 minutes.The pump also features an auto pressure detect facility which enables it to automatically sense back pressure from the client laying on the mattress. This ensures the mattress maintains the correct pressure for each client. In addition, the pump features both visual and audio alarms, which will activate in the event of a low pressure or power failure situation.

Therapeutic Air Cell Design

The cells follow a 12 minute alternating (two up one down, three cell pattern) cycle relieving pressure and encouraging micro circulation. The cells at the head end remain static for client comfort. Easy access cells are fully replaceable. There is also an independent heel zone area consisting of five low pressure micro cells for individualised therapy to this sensitive area.The dynamic mattress features a hinged back which makes it highly compatible with profiling beds. This hinge prevents the air cells from becoming distorted.

High Frequency Welded, Multi Stretch PU Cover

The cover has high frequency welded seams and a zip flap to prevent fluid ingress. It is made from multi stretch polyurethane material to reduce the effects of shear and friction. The cover is vapour permeable and has a quick zip which allows the top cover to be removed quickly. The cover is washable to 95° C.

CPR Tag

The quick release CPR tag allows the mattress to rapidly deflate in emergency cases.

Carry Bag

The mattress can be rolled and transported in the convenient wheeled transport bag which is provided with every mattress. The bag also has a side pocket for the control system.

Pressure redistributing wedge

The Invacare Odstock Wedge was developed in partnership with clinicians to assist in the reduction of interface pressures on the sacrum and heels without significantly increasing pressure on the thighs or calves. Light weight and low maintenance

This innovative design results in a cushion range which is safe, easy to maintain and lightweight. There is no risk of the cushion deflating so if a SoftCell™ does get damaged, the single cell can be replaced rather than the entire cushion. As for maintenance, once the cushion

Academy Centre ReliefDesigned specifically for use following procedures such as perianal surgery, difficult childbirth or for clients suffering with localised deep pressure ulcers, the SoftCells™ in this 10cm height cushion can be removed from the centre circle section to avoid contact with the skin, while the cushion still retains overall stability and pressure reduction.

Academy AdjusterThe Adjuster model offers high performance pressure re-distribution with the ability to create an individual solution for clients with severe functional and/ or anatomical body asymmetry. Vicair’s solution is the Academy Active. This wheelchair cushion is a combination of the unique Vicair technology and ergonomicallyshaped foam. The Academy Active weighs only 1,400 grams.Foam: The front of the Active is made of ergonomically-shaped foam. The foam enables the user to make an easier transfer and provides a great sense of stability.Air: The cushion’s back side has three compartments with air-filled SmartCells. This part of the cushion provides comfort while sitting and helps to prevent pressure ulcers. It is also a great addition to a decubitus treatment plan.

CleaningTreat light stains by wiping the cushion cover with a damp cloth, using a mild detergent. Difficult spots or stains can be cleaned by first saturating the spot and then using a soft brush to loosen the dirt, or by machine washing the emptied cushion cover at 60 °C.Before washing the cover, remove the Smart-Cells and foam block from the cover. The SmartCells are placed in three bags (Smart-Cell liners) to facilitate this. Follow the washing instructions on the label inside the cushion cover.166

Acadamy Junior Back The Back system consist of a cushion with 8 compartments and a removable ABS plastic back shell, providing comfort and good lateral support. Supplied with a velcro attachment, the system can be fitted to the back posts of most types of paediatric wheelchairs.

The Invacare Vicair Liberty range comprises of a seat cushion and back, suitable for those 'At Risk' of developing pressure ulcers. Providing comfort, reliability, pressure reduction and ease of use, both the cushion and back automatically adjust to the clients weight and body contours without the need to remove or add SoftCells™.

Innovative technology

The Liberty range is made up of air filled SoftCells™ surrounded by a small quantity of silicon gel. This allows the cells to move smoothly and freely against each other and conform to the body's contours.

Ease of use

This innovative design results in a comfortable and easy to use seating solution. To set up the back and cushion, simply open the valve, sit the client in the chair and leave for a couple of minutes.

The air volume will automatically adjust itself to the clients weight and body shape. Finally close the valve and the cushion and back are ready for use.

Liberty Back With the same features as the Liberty PT, the Liberty Back provides comfort, stability and support for the client. Available with or without back straps, it is an ideal replacement for a wheelchair with a standard sling back. The lower section provides lumbar support whilst the top gives thoracic support. The back rest can also be adjusted to follow the contours of the spinal column.

Liberty PTThis entry level cushion has two compartments, one at the front and one to the rear. The rear section has fewer cells which helps to reduce shear forces and eliminates the tendency to slide forward. For increased positioning, this cushion is available with a pelvic stabiliser.

The Liberty Range

Pelvic StabiliserBy adding the Pelvic Stabiliser to the Liberty PT cushion, it will raise the seat surface under the clients thighs, reducing the tendency of the pelvis to rotate backwards. This will in turn reduce shear forces whilst providing an upright, comfortable seating surface.

Pressure Ulcer Risk Assessment

When assessing an individual for a pressure reducing cushion or mattress it is always advisable to carryout some form of risk assessment. This risk assessment can include a formal risk assessment scale such as the Norton scale (1962), the Braden scale (1985) and the Waterlow scale (1985). The Waterlow scale for example provides a guide category of potential risk for that individual, based on the final score.

However, it is recommended that the results of a formal risk assessment are always considered alongside more informal clinical judgement before the total care package is decided, of which pressure management equipment is an important part. This ensures that factors that may not be included in the formal risk assessment are given sufficient consideration.

In addition, Invacare recommend that guidance on pressure ulcer risk assessment is sought from relevant Agencies and Panels as detail below.

Cleaning Instructions

General Cleaning – to prevent delamination, use a solution of neutral detergent and hot water, or alternatively a 0.1% hyperchloride solution. Apply with single use wipe. Following application, the cover should be rinsed with clean water (damp cloth) and thoroughly dried.Removable contaminated covers should be laundered at 80˚C with a dilute detergent solution. Please ensure covers are thoroughly rinsed and dried before placing back on the Invacare product.(Invacare recommends that care staff should always actively liase with a person qualified in infection Control regarding decontamination protocols.)NB: Always ensure you read the user instructions prior to use, and inspect the interior and exterior of cushions,
