Tomorrow – one possible vision

Numerous small businesses have been established in Transylvania County to add to successful current businesses.

This has resulted in net job growth and a growing per capita income compared with 2013 data.

Families are thriving and young citizens are finding great reasons to stay or return.

Baby boomers continue to retire here with wonderful outlets to enjoy life and make a difference

Our diverse arts and recreation culture is even better supported with the stronger economy

Ready Workforce – Intent

• Intent is that we have an inventory of a ready workforce

• So that when while discussing new business opportunities:

we can state with confidence the size and capabilities of a ready workforce

Ready Workforce – Potential Investment in and by under-employed citizensRefreshed set of experiences for resume:

◦ Certified: math, computer, writing, technical skills (taught by volunteers and/or newly certified TA’s from the under-employed community)

◦ Internships: paid or unpaid (requires opportunities to be made available by existing companies)

Basics: current drug-tests, interview skills, resume writing, work expectations

Consolidates other needs from current and new businessesRequires: investment to develop program, testing, child care,

transportation…etc.
