Independent cinema:
Any movie that gets less than 50% of the money that comes out of the six
major studios. It depends on how its funded. If its not funded one of the
“Big Six” it is an independent film. Low budget and far more artistic , is how
we can tell if a film is an independent film.
They cannot afford to be advertised through TV so its less known to people.
Small cinemas normally show them.
My film is an independent film.

Who funds independent projects?
Government funding for shorts comes largely through the UK Film Council,
Local councils will often put money towards a short filmmaking initiative
A number of charities fund short films (often though on an ad hoc basis).
From time to time, there are various schemes set up by broadcasters and other
organisations that produce a series of shorts, such as the BBC New Music

The Importance of Film Festivals
It’s a whole different way to circulate a film, and there are indeed certain films
that circulate exclusively on the film festival circuit.
People go to these festivals purposely to find new films, so there’s a better
chance that an audience will be interested. Sometimes when a film advertises
on the TV people tend to skip it so they can continue watching their
programme, so it’s not as effective.
DISTRIBUTION
make double the money per unit sold means more profit
other products beyond books sold, other target audiences and wider range of
productions
ADVANTAGES OF SELF

ADVANTAGES OF ONLINE

A film screening is the displaying of a motion picture or film, generally
referring to a special showing as part of a film's production and release cycle.
To show the film to best advantage, special screenings may take place in plush,
low seat-count theatres with very high quality.
Production companies and producers screen films in order to get more
publicity and excitement to gain a larger audience.
This can save them money on advertising in various methods, due to selecting
specific people to see the film first.

After conducting my research, I have decided that my production company
and distributor for independent films will be Miramax Films. This is because
the name of this company is associated with famous, high quality thrillers,
meaning that when this title is displayed they will have high expectations of
my Thriller.
