We are glad you are here. No matter who you are, no matter where you come from, and no matter where you are on the journey of life — you are welcome in this church. We invite you to participate in our worship service, or simply observe, as you wish.

We hope you will find Saint Paul’s to be a place of refreshment and renewal, where you experience the presence of the risen Christ. We have been serving Christ in this location for over two hundred sixty years. While our building is old and beautiful, our mission is contemporary and forward moving. Here you will find a people very much connected with the questions and struggles of modern life, of faith, and of following the way of Jesus.

We are a community called to serve those in need in our city, in our nation, and around the world. Here you will find ministries with and for children, youth, parents, seniors, singles, and families in all configurations and stages of life.

About Worship

If the liturgy (worship) of the Episcopal Church is unfamiliar, then we hope you will find this information helpful.

You are welcome in the Episcopal Church, and so the first and best resource we offer are your neighbors in the pews. Just say, “I’m visiting,” and they will gladly help. About Receiving Holy Communion

ALL who come in faith are invited to receive Holy Communion at Saint Paul’s.

• During communion, the people form two short lines in the center aisle at the steps. After receiv-ing the bread and wine or a blessing at the altar rail, please exit through the door to the left of the altar and return to your pew via the side aisles.

• For those who may prefer not to receive communion at the main altar, a communion station is provided on the main floor to the right of the center aisle. If you are unable to receive at either station, the clergy will bring the bread and wine to your pew. Please notify an usher before the service begins.

• To receive a blessing at the altar rail without receiving Communion, cross your arms over your chest, palms on your collar, until the person on your left has received both the bread and the wine.

• If your children are in the nursery, you are invited to bring them to receive Holy Communion or a blessing.

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to set out for a place that he was to receive as an inheritance; and he set out, not knowing where he was going. This year’s Star Spangled Fourth features New York City tenor, Daniel Rodriguez, a retired Brooklyn police officer who almost lost his life on 9/11. Officer Rodriguez, whose stirring rendition of “God Bless America” became a regular feature at Yankees games in the years following 9/11, has also made guest appearances at patriotic celebrations held at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. He will be joined by the 100-member Independence Day Chorus & Orchestra under the direction of Keith Shafer. Next Sunday, July 9, is Birthday Sunday. Join us during “Coffee and Conversation” (10:30 - 10:45 am) in Tyler Hall. ALL are invited to our brief but joyful celebration for all whose birthdays fall in July.

Until our fall formation programs for children, youth, and adults begin on August 20, we are offering a video and discussion series about the surprising history of our faith. Drop in ANY Sunday, 9:30-10:30 am, in the Berlin Room; you won’t be disappointed. Each Sunday we will watch a 30-minute installment of Diarmaid MacCulloch’s brilliant BBC documentary followed by clergy-led conversation.

Donate Summer Music: The Saint Paul’s Choir begins its summer vacation July 9. Beginning that Sunday and continuing through September 3, we will have guest musicians participating in our services. Summer music is made possible by gifts in celebration of something or someone or as a memorial. The cost is $150. Our last Fellowship Dinner was our most popular yet. At your request, dinners will continue throughout the summer. Join us Wednesday, July 12, 6 pm in Tyler Hall. On the menu: smothered porkchops with tomato & onion, rice, stewed cabbage, cornbread muffins, and dessert. Thank our Veterans for their service Sunday afternoon, July 16, at our quarterly ice cream social. We’ll meet at the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home on 15th Street in the dining hall at 2:15 pm to serve ice cream and cookies and spend time visiting with our Veterans. All ages welcome. Follow in Paul’s footsteps. The Saint Paul’s Choir is going to Greece next April 11-21, visiting important places in the life of the Apostle Paul. The choir will sing at St. Paul’s Anglican Cathedral in Athens and at the amphitheaters at Ephesus and Epidaurus. Other sites to be visited include Corinth, Delphi, and the islands of Mykonos, Crete, Santorini, and Rhodes. A 5-day, 4-night cruise on the Celestyal Crystal is part of the tour.
