Powerpoint or poster boards can be used. NO live animals are permitted Cloverbud (5-8 yrs) talks are 1-5 minutes Junior (9-13 yrs) talks are 2-5 minutes Senior (14-19 yrs) talks are 5-8 minutes The categories are: Animal Science Citizenship Consumer Economics Entomology—Let’s Talk About Bugs Environmental Stewardship Health Horse Human Development Innovative Technology Safety Public Speaking Vet Science Food Fair: Breads, Eggs, AR Foods, Healthy Snacks, Fruits and Vegetables Only judges will be allowed to ask 4-H’ers questions during competition. Each participant should present an illustrated talk or demo in a category they are interested in. Review the time lengths above to know how long your talk should last. Game Night January—12th 5-7pm Extension Office The Teen Leader Club is working hard to sponsor a Game Night for 5—12 year old 4-H’ers. There will be a variety of board games, cards, crafts etc. Popcorn and goodies will also be available. The November issue of CLOVER- PATCH Buzz-z will be mailed to all enrolled 4-H’ers from last year’s and the current years mailing list. The January’s newsletter will only be mailed to current enrolled 4-H members and leaders for the 2016-2017 year. Please make sure you re-enroll in 4-H to continue getting the county newsletter. BATESVILLE CHRISTMAS PARADE Christmas Parade begins at 6:30 pm on Monday, November 27, 2017

Theme for this year is “CHRISTMAS AROUND THE WORLD”. If your club wants to be a part of the Christmas Parade you will line up for the parade in front of Cash Savers at 5:00pm. Your club may want to ride on a float or walk as a group. You must register your float if you want it to be judged. Registrations forms are at the Chamber of Commerce Office.

Due to restrictions within the city for horses, they will not be allowed in the parade.

LEADERS CORNER

Citizenship Washington Focus July 7-14th

Applications due in the state 4-H office December 20th, 2017. Cost $1,200.

The registration for Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF) is up & ready. Delegates will learn about the democratic process and their role as citizens while they experience our nation’s capital. They will get the inside scoop about how government really works from prominent guest speakers. In addition, they will participate in bill writing workshops, a national issues form, mock elections, and congressional sessions that prepare you for leadership now and in the future. Applicants must be 14 years of age by Jan. 1, 2018.

RECORD BOOKS 4-H record report forms, instructions, tips, and how to add photography to your record book can be found on-line

at http://www.kidsarus.org/go4it/recordbook/Default.htm or contact the Extension Office for a copy.

Turning in a completed Record book counts as 1/4 of the expense of the summer trip.

The deadline for submitting 4-H Journals will be 4:30 pm, Monday, January 8, 2018. Please be on time, as there will be no books taken after this date. Remember, Advanced Books age 16-19 are required to have a 4-H Resume with their Record Book. For more information about the 4-H Resume check the rules or call the Extension Office.

Journal Covers are $2.00 at the Extension Office.

Applications due in the Extension Office December 4, 2017.

You must be 16 years of age by Jan 1, 2018 and not have had their 19th birthday by Jan. 1. Cost is $650—your cost is $325, after 4-H Foundation pays 1/2. Registration is on 4-H Online.

Each county can send one delegate for review.

4-H Veterinary Science Field Trip 2018

LSU-School of Veterinary Medicine 11– 19 years

January 19th and 20th $150 Registration Fee

RECORD BOOK WORKSHOP

November 6th at 6:00 pm

We will be having our Record book workshop on Monday, November 6th, 6:00pm at the Extension Office conference room. If you are a new member and have never completed a record book, you should attend this very important workshop. We will begin with the Cloverbuds, then Beginners, Interme-diate, and last will be Advanced. Please call and register so we will be sure to have enough copies on hand. If no one calls, the workshop will be cancelled.

LEADERS: This will count as a training session if you attend.

Project Books: Please submit a list of 4-H’ers and what project book they would like for the this year. Since registration is online there is not a place to request project books.

Promotion Month: Please provide Linda with a list of what your club did to promote 4-H in October.
