INCREASING THE COMPETITIVITY AND
DURABILITY OF SOME SHEEP FARMS
THROUGH QUANTITATIVE AND QUALITATIVE
IMPROVEMENT OF THE MEAT PRODUCTION
CONTRACTOR :

Project Manager
Dr. ing. Camelia Zoia Zamfir
PARTNERS:
SC ACVILA SRL TULCEA –
SHEEP BREEDER OF MERINOS;
I.I. –POLIFRONIE – CONSTANŢA,
SHEEP BREEDER OF MERINOS.
The general objective of the project consists in technical consolidation and
development of some family farms through the quantitative increase and
qualitative improvement of the meat production at the sheep of local breeds,
making the family farms more efficient by increasing of the number of
weaned lambs and making carcasses of fattened sheep youth, of quality, valued
at superior prices on the marked.
Period of project development: 06.10.2015-31.11.2018

MATERIAL AND METHOD OF WORK
• The works of the project are developed on sheep from contracting unit.
Palas-Constanţa – Merinos sheep from Dobrogea area; and of partners:
Experimental Base Reghin- Mures for Ţigaie Mureş breed; SC Acvila SRL Tulcea
– Breeder of Merinos sheep; I.I. –Polifronie – Constanţa, Breeder of Merinos
sheep.
• It was watched the body development of the male lambs during fattening
period.
• The lambs were weighed on an electronic balance.
• The body measurements on the living animal were made with the zoo meter,
the compasses and the tailor ribbon
• It was calculated the fodders consumption per day and per 1 kg of increasing
rate.
• It was determined the milk production through the Romanian method of
Nica- Dermengi
• The chemical analysis of the milk: the proportion of fat - Gerber method;
Kjeldahl method for the proportion of protein;
• Data processing. There were used the usual statistic methods, there were
calculated the statistical parameters and determination of variance with Fischer
test .

CONCLUSIONS
The weight increasing rate made as a result of the fattening of the half-bred lambs
with the Meat Breed of Palas was of 222,9±2,9735 g at F1 half-bred lambs (Meat Breed of
Palas X Merinos Breed) and of 207,0±3,3133 g at R1 half-bred lambs of Meat Breed of
Palas X F1 (Meat Breed of Palas x Merinos de Palas Breed ), they exceeding the
increasing rates made by Merinos lambs with 42 and respectively 32.
The F1 half-bred lambs (Meat Breed of Palas X Merinos Breed) and R1 of Meat Breed
of Palas X F1 (Meat Breed of Palas x Merinos de Palas Breed) made the kilogram of
weight increasing rate with a consumption of metabolising energy of 12220, respectively
13033 kcal and a consumption of protein of 760,8, respectively 812 g besides 16902 Kcal
and 1052 g digestible protein, at Merinos Breed, thus proving a better conversion of
fodders into weight increasing rate.
TheF1 half-bred lambs of Meat Breed of Palas X Țigaie Breed from the Experimental
Base of Reghin made weight increasing rates of 209,2 g , and the R1 half-bred lambs of
Meat Breed X F1 (Meat Breed of Palas X Țigaie Breed ) make 206,7g exceeding the
average daily weight increasing rate made by Țigaie Breed with 15 and respectively
13,7%. The F1 and R1 half-bred lambs made a specific consumption of metabolising
energy of 12404 and respectively 12554 Kcal besides 14982 Kcal at Țigaie Breed and a
specific consumption of protein of 765 respectively 774 g besides 881 g at Țigaie Breed .
As a result of the fattening of the half-bred lambs of Suffolk Breed and Merinos Breed
from the Project Partner I.I.Polifronie it was obtained an average daily weight increasing
rate of 217,1±3,3536 g at the R1 half-bred lambs and 207,2±4,1035 g besides
167,20±1,1735 obtained at Merinos lambs.
The F1 half-bred lambs (Suffolk Breed X Merinos Breed) and R1 Suffolk Breed X F1
(Suffolk Breed X Merinos Breed) had a better conversion of fodders in weight increasing
rate making one kilogram of weight increasing rate with lower consumption of energy
(22,7 and respectively 28,57 %) and protein( 22,49 and respectively 28,29 % ) besides
Merinos Breed .
The weight increasing rate made by the half-bred lambs with Charollais Breed from
the Partner SC Acvila SRL was of 222,5±2,5536 g at the R1 half-bred lambs of Charollais
Breed X F1 (Charollais Breed X Merinos Breed) and of 200,2±4,1035 g at the F1 half-bred
lambs (Charollais Breed X Merinos Breed ), bigger increasing rates with 38,63 and
respectively 24,74 % besides Merinos Breed. The specific consumption of energy and
digestible protein of R1 half-bred lambs was smaller besides Merinos Breed with 38,5 %
and that of the F1 half-bred lambs smaller with 25 %, respectively 27 %.
The results of experimental slaughtering done at the F1 and R1 half-bred lambs
between Meat Breed of Palas and Merinos de Palas breed from ICDCOC Palas showed
the highest output at slaughtering (Output1)
At the partner I.I. Polifronie Iancu there were obtained similar data for the slaughtering
output (Output1) at the F1 half-bred lambs (Suffolk breed X Merinos breed) and R1
Suffolk breed X F1 (Suffolk breed X Merinos Breed) and Merinos Breed.
At the partner SC Acvila SRL there were obtained similar data for the slaughtering
output ( Output1) ) at the F1 half-bred lambs (Charollais Breed X Merinos Breed) and R1
Charollais Breed X F1 (Charollai Breed s X Merinos Breed) and Merinos Breed .
