UNDERSTANDING DIFFERENT GRADES OF STAINLESS STEEL AND THEIR USAGE

Stainless steels are engineering materials with good corrosion resistance, strength and fabrication characteristics. They

can readily meet a wide range of design criteria such as load, cost-saving benefits of a maintenance-free product and long

life expectancy.

Understanding the basics of stainless steel will be useful in determining and proposing the right grade for the right

purpose/location as well as providing a cost effective solution to end users.

Grades of Stainless Steel

There are many grades of stainless steel with the most common being 304 & 316. We offer all our stainless steel models in

both SS304 and SS316L grades. All our SS304 models are epoxy painted for extra protection against the corrosive

elements. In many cases, depending on the environment that the cameras are located, 304 grade is more than sufficient

for prevention of corrosion. 316L stainless steel grade generally costs 25% - 35% more than 304, and is less commercially

available.

Type 304 - is often referred to as "18-8" (18% chromium, 8% nickel) with the basic stainless alloy most commonly utilized

for wire cloth weaving. It withstands outdoor exposure without rusting and resists oxidation at an elevated temperature up

to 1400 Degrees Fahrenheit. Type 304 L is very similar to T-304, the difference being the reduced carbon content for better

weaving and secondary welding characteristics.

Type 316 - Stabilized by the addition of 2% molydbenum, T-316 is an "18-8" alloy. It has better resistance to pitting

corrosion than the other chromium-nickel stainless steels where brines, sulphur-bearing water or halogen salts, such as

chlorides are present. A valuable property of T-316 is high creep strength at elevated temperatures. Other mechanical

properties and fabricating characteristics are similar to T-304. Type 316L is very similar to T-316, the difference being the

reduced carbon content for wire cloth weaving and secondary welding characteristics.

What is Electro-polishing

Electro-polishing is an electrochemical removal process that selectively removes a thin layer of metal, including surface

flaws and imbedded impurities. The smoothest polished finishes are buffed after mechanical polishing to produce a mirror-

like appearance.

Stainless Steel Area of use – In general SS316 can be used for all areas, but in many areas it is not necessary to be used as the

corrosion resistance properties of SS304 (even more so with additional epoxy painting) are more than sufficient to withstand the

corrosive elements present and will present significant cost savings. (Information for reference only)

The AXIPTZ-5 is an improved and innovative explosion proof PTZ camera station which combines pan/tilt, enclosure,

telemetry receiver, wiper system and camera into one fully integrated easy to install and maintain unit. No external wiring

between pan/tilt and camera housing.

Standard supply of the AXIPTZ-5 includes one 8 core non-armored composite cable of 2 meters length, auto-heater and

sunshield. The AXIPTZ-5 incorporates Pelco D/P protocols and various baud rates for easy integration with most

controllers. The communication board incorporates auxiliary contacts for activation of both wiper and our optional AXWS

washer system. The camera station can be either base or wall mounted with optional wall mount bracket.

The optional AXFT flexible steel/rubber tube protects the non-armoured cable lead from nicks and cuts, which is critical in

hazardous area locations.

IP SOLUTION

While the AXIPTZ-5 is an analog system, converting it

into an IP SOLUTION and connecting it on a network

is easily achieved using a external encoder housed in

an explosion proof enclosure such as the AXCR-1

CABLE PROTECTION

The AXFT is flexible tubing with steel netting inner layer and

rubber sheath outer layer used to provide protection for the non-

armored composite cable camera pigtail in hazardous area

locations.

It is supplied with stainless steel G3/4” screw joints on both ends. One end is to be attached to the camera station, with the cable

pigtail passing through it, and the other end to the AXCR-1

Enclosure/Junction Box or customer supplied enclosure/junction

box.

The AXFT flexible tube is not ATEX certified. It only acts like a

conduit to protect the camera pigtail from nicks and cuts.

AP8501 Series Weatherproof PTZ Camera Station is designed with emphasis given to its durability, stability, consistently

high performance and low maintenance under extreme and harsh conditions.

Other features which make the AP8501 Series the leading weather resistant model of choice in the industry is its 4000V

Lightning and Surge Protection, high speed multi-protocol decoder, high-performance digital signal processing (DSP)

camera with zoom lens, stable working voltage, overheat and short-circuit protection, accurate stepping motor which

ensures positioning accuracy of ±0.1° and vibration-free operation even in magnified zoom position and high-quality slip

APPLICATIONS




The AXIPTZ-5IR is an improved and innovative explosion proof PTZ camera station which combines pan/tilt, enclosure,

telemetry receiver, wiper system, camera and LED IR Illuminator into one fully integrated easy to install and maintain unit.

No external wiring between pan/tilt and camera housing.

Standard supply of the AXIPTZ-5IR includes one 8 core non-armored composite cable of 2 meters length, auto-heater and

sunshield. The AXIPTZ-5IR incorporates Pelco D/P protocols and various baud rates for easy integration with most

controllers. The communication board incorporates auxiliary contacts for activation of both wiper and our optional AXWS

washer system. The camera station can be either base or wall mounted with optional wall mount bracket.

The optional AXFT flexible steel/rubber tube protects the non-armoured cable lead from nicks and cuts, which is critical in

hazardous area locations.

IP SOLUTION

While the AXIPTZ-5IR is an analog system, converting

it into an IP SOLUTION and connecting it on a network

is easily achieved using a external encoder housed in

an explosion proof enclosure such as the AXCR-1

The AXFT is flexible tubing with steel netting inner layer and

pigtail passing through it, and the other end to the AXCR-1

Enclosure/Junction Box or customer supplied enclosure/junction

box.

The AXFT flexible tube is not ATEX certified. It only acts like a

conduit to protect the camera pigtail from nicks and cuts.

The AXWS-5 pressurized washer system with integral explosion proof solenoid valve & pressure gauge has been developed

for use with AVEX or third party camera stations in hazardous area locations as well as outdoor and general areas, making it

ideally suited for use in the industrial, offshore & marine industries.

The AXWS-5 pressurized washer system enables remote washing of the camera station glass windows.

The fluid tank is manually pressurized and incorporates a built-in pressure gauge. The wash fluid is released by activation of

the ATEX/IECEx approved integral solenoid valve. An important feature of the AXWS-5 design is the “Y” strainer, which

filters and prevents any dirt in the water from entering and clogging up the solenoid valve, ensuring long lasting and smooth

operation of the system.

The explosion proof solenoid valve can be activated remotely via the camera telemetry receiver or manually via a ON/OFF

switch supplied by customer. The explosion proof solenoid coil can be supplied in different voltages according to site

power availability.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Only the Solenoid is ATEX/IECEx certified. The other components of the AXWS Series washer systems are only hardware

and do not contain any potential ignition sources. As such, only a copy of the ATEX & IECEx certificate for the solenoid will

PRODUCT BRIEF

The AWS-10 pressurized washer system with integral weatherproof solenoid valve & pressure gauge has been developed

for use with AVEX or third party camera stations in outdoor and general area locations, making it ideally suited for use in the

industrial, offshore & marine industries.

The AWS-10 pressurized washer system enables remote washing of the camera station glass windows.
