Due to continued uncertainty due to the Covid epidemic the June Stukeleys Parish Council Meeting was held via ZOOM as a Working Group Meeting acting under delegation. The meeting was chaired by the vice chairman as Chairman Terry Pinner recovers from a recent spell in hospital, the council wished him well and for a rapid recovery.

A planning application 21/00825/FUL Land Southwest of November Cottage Green End Great Stukeley for the erection of three dwellings and garages including access was voted upon and a majority voting for objection of the plan. Correspondence from occupants of a property in the immediate vicinity were also noted.

The planning advisor to the SPC updated the council on application 18/02275/REM Land West of The East Coast Mainline Railway and North of Spittals Way Huntingdon. The original plan for a dual carriageway southern access to Alconbury Weald with a 30mph speed limit has now changed to a single carriageway road with a speed limit of 40mph. The Parish Council proposed to log a holding objection on the above application based on; concerns at the proposed 40mph speed, reduction of roadway from dual to single carriageway, lack of explanation for the changes.

He also updated the council on the pre application to HDC for the proposed Pocket Park project, as there has been no response to date from HDC it was agreed that council will go ahead and prepare a full planning application.

Cllr. Burton reported on a meeting with three members of SPC and a representative of a company that has a good track record in successfully preparing a Neighborhood Plan for other parishes, it was agreed the council should proceed as soon as possible.

Following the completion of the 'Annual Governance and Accountability Return' [AGAR] the Independent Internal Audit for financial year end 2020/2021 was completed in the presence of Cllrs. Evans and Close.

Reports to the SPC have been received of a vermin problem at the Gt. Stukeley allotments and of problems with the pump that supplies water from the underground storage, it was agreed that the Council would contact the Allotment Committee and advise of the Councils wish to support a proposal for repair and remedy.

Solar powered electronic speed signs have now been ordered for placement in four locations along Ermine Street once the traffic calming has been completed.

Several proposals were received from the Chairman regarding items in need of repair and maintenance, it was agreed that council should advertise for a person or persons to undertake such work at an agreed rate. It was also proposed that the council get quotes for metal railings to go round the Tumuli and possibly along the playing field frontage.

A proposal for a litter pick within the villages was discussed, a date to be confirmed and volunteers sought.

Cambs Therapy Centre Bradbury House, Mayfield Road, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire PE29 1UL

01480 458688 [email protected]

We at the Centre hope you have all remained well and stayed safe during the last very long 15 months during the pandemic with all of its restriction that have been imposed on us all.

Some of you may or may not be aware that Fiona Arthurs has taken the decision to leave the Centre after coming back from Lockdown. The Trustees, along with all our members I am sure would like to Thank Fiona for all her hard work and dedication that she has committed to giving to the Centre. We would like to take the opportunity to send Fiona our very best wishes for the future.

The centre has been open for a few weeks now, and some members have been attending to use the Oxygen chamber, however we are limited to the numbers we can have using this facility due to the restrictions with Covid-19.

Page 9: Including JULY2021

There is a lot to be done and we are working very hard to get the centre Covid-19 compliant, making sure we are all safe, along side everything else that is needed, is in place ready for when we are allowed to open up fully. With this in mind we are looking for some willing helpers and volunteers to assist us. Our priority is to find as many individuals as we are able, to help us achieve cover to run and assist with the running of the tank, so we in turn can look opening up more often and enable more individuals to access the benefits of the tank.

We currently only have one volunteer to run the tank. which is not ideal. So we are asking do you or do you know someone that could help us out, even if it is only for a. Couple of hours we would love to hear from you

Once we can improve this situation, we can then look at other areas ie kitchen and get the centre buzzing again.

We will cover this more in our next info update, but just to initiate your thought processes we are looking for some fundraising ideas, groups of people willing to help or run these. More to follow soon.

Unfortunately, we have to rely heavily on volunteers at the Centre, and it’s our volunteers, and Karen that are currently keeping the centre going. So, if you are able support them in any way, please do. It will be very much appreciated.

Lastly, I would like to introduce myself to you in case you are wondering who Lynne Thornton is sending all these facebook post to you.

I have been working alongside Maxine Hazell for a number of years now, and with Fiona leaving the uncertainty of Covid -19, and being a difficult time to employ a replacement I am currently helping Karen with the day to day running of the centre. If you have any question, queries etc, etc please do not hesitate to contact us, we may not be able to answer straight away but will respond as soon as we can.

That’s all for now, enjoy the sunshine and hope to meet you all soon.
