Electoral History for Halifax Needham

In 1966, an amendment to the House of Assembly Act (SNS 1966, c.34) divided Halifax North into Halifax City North East and Halifax City North West. These districts were subsequently changed in 1967 through another amendment to the House of Assembly Act (SNS 1967, c. 46) and Halifax City North East became Halifax Needham while Halifax City North West became Halifax Chebucto.

In 2003, Halifax Needham gained an area east of Citadel Hill from Halifax Citadel (SNS 2002, c. 34).

In 2013, following the recommendations of the 2012 Electoral Boundaries Commission report, this district lost the area south of Robie Street and east of Young Street to Halifax Chebucto and gained the area north of Bayers Road and east of Connaught Avenue from Halifax Chebucto.

Electoral History for Halifax North

The Statues of Nova Scotia for 1932, divided the County of Halifax into five electoral districts: Halifax South, Halifax Centre, Halifax North, Halifax West, and Halifax East.

Chapter 34 of the Statutes of Nova Scotia for 1966 divided Halifax North into Halifax City North East and Halifax City North West. These districts were subsequently changed in 1967, and Halifax City North East became Halifax Needham and Halifax City North West became Halifax Chebucto. (SNS 1967, c. 46)
