About ZOE®TheZOE®FluidStatusMonitorwasdesignedforobjectivelymonitoringfluidlevels.
TheZOE®measuresthoracicbaseimpedancewhichissimplyameasurementoftheresistanceofasmallfrequencyelectriccurrentasittravelsfromthetoptothebottomofthethorax.
Themoreresistancethecurrentmeets,thedrierorlessfluidthatexistsandconversely,thelessresistancethatthecurrentmeets,thewetterormorefluidthatexistsinthechest.

What is Zo?Zorefersto“Znaught”,orbaseresistanceinohms.Thesymbolforelectricalresistanceorohmsis“Ω”.Zohasbeenmeasuredforyearsincardioplethysmographtechnology.NormalZoinhumansubjectshasbeendeterminedtorangefrom19-30ohms.Lessthan19ohmsindicatesthatthesubjectmaybeover-hydratedandZogreaterthan30indicatesthatthesubjectisbecomingdehydrated.

Thisdeviceisintendedforusebyqualifiedhealthcarepractitioners,underthedirectionofaphysician,forthenoninvasivemonitoringandmanagementofpatientswithfluidmanagementproblemsinavarietyofmedicallyacceptedclinicalapplications.
TheZOE®providesobjectivedatafortheearlyinterventionofheartfailure,dyspnea,hypertension,andothercriticaleventsrelatedtohemodynamicstatus.
