Heavenly Father,you revealed your loveby sending your only Son into the world that all might live through him:grant that by the power of the Spirityour Church may obey his commandto make disciples of all nations;through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

God’s Joy in us our Joy in God

The Gospels are a procession of joyrebuffing doubt, uncertainty and despair.Elizabeth and Zechariah are filled withthe joy of a new born son.The young maiden gives birthand shepherds and kings fall down in joy and adoration.Simeon and Anna no longer keep vigil.The promise is fulfilled in the joy that leadsto a happy surrendered death.The blind and the lame – welcomed the holy joy of Jesus’ touch.

We may think that we could be really happyif our pain could be cured, if we won the lottery, if we could find the right personto share our lives with. If only, If only ….God’s joy is for us Now – in our immediate circumstances.For the Joy of the Kingdom – the Joy of eternal lifebegins Now, not in some future fantasy.This is the transforming joy of Godthat changes lives and createsmessengers (disciples) of great joy for our world Now!

THE HOMELESS & NEEDY

O Lord, who rescues the poor from need, and restores the lonely to a home: look in mercy on all who suffer the lack of livelihood and, like you O Lord have nowhere to lay their head. And as you have assured those that do good to others that, inasmuch as they do it to your brethren, they do it unto you, let your pity and compassion move us to house the homeless and to lighten the burdens of the needy and distressed. Guide we pray, those that govern the nations, that your people may be set free from want and fear, and that in you all the families of the earth may be blessed. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

VACANT PARISHES

O merciful, God who knows the needs of your Church and people strengthen their faith and resolve during time of vacancy. We pray that provision may be made for them to receive spiritual feeding and that your sacraments are avaiable to them ; we ask this in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen

INCREASE OF THE SACRED MINISTRY

O Lord, we pray that more men and women be guided by your Spirit to seek ordination to your Sacred Ministry. Guide those who feel called to seek advice. May we Lord, encourage those who feel called to serve you as Deacon and Priest and also those who are called to ministry as Reader. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

In your daily prayers remember June our Bishop as she ministers to her flock in the diocese. Pray also for all the bishops of the province.

Almighty God,the light of the faithful and shepherd of souls,who gave your servant Juneto be a bishop in your church,to feed your sheep with your wordand guide them by good example:give us grace to keep the faith of the Churchand to follow in the footstepsof Jesus Christ our Lord,who lives and reigns with youin the unity of the Holy Spirit,one God, now and for ever.

A place of Christian Worship and Prayer, set in surroundings of peace, beauty and tranquility, with wildlife in abundance that never fails to catch the retreatants attention. Llangasty Retreat House has been used as a place of retreat by Church groups, The Mothers Union and study groups to name but a few, for over 50 years.

Llangasty Retreat House is used by Christian organizations such as, Creative Arts Retreat Movement with their Painting and Prayer retreats and the Fellowship of Contemplative Prayer. Llangasty Retreat House is also an ideal place for the individual to get away from the stresses and strains of modern day life, the views from the lounge window entice you to sit, relax and marvel at God's creation.

Exploring Spiritual Awareness is a gentle exploration over 10 months of the broad heritage of Christian faith, to help participants listen more deeply to God’s call upon your lives, and develop skills to help others do the same. The course is held once a month on Saturdays, at All Saints Church Southerndown, and is for lay and ordained people. Topics covered include knowing yourself, challenges of prayer, what is a calling or vocation, listening skills, bereavement and identity, young people, suffering and pain, and sustaining prayer. The next course begins on Saturday 14 October 2017, and runs through to the Festival of Prayer in July 2018 and costs £115.
