In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and convections of real media products? There was shots of blood when the victim character was in a cage environment as blood was seen was on the victims face this was used as a typical convention of horror genre films, therefore the element of danger was used to give the audience what they expected, and reinforce the idea that the antagonist character Hanna Babinski is dominant in the opening sequence. This is shown in Evil Dead when the antagonist physically hurts the victim character.

Moreover an unknown location was another typical convention of a horror genre film and this was seen when the antagonist was in a discrete location in order for the victim to feel vulnerable and helpless which is usually portrayed in the horror films. Moreover the unknown location, which was the basement, added an element of mystery to make the audience feel suspense. This is shown in Evil Dead as there is a unknown location in the woods where the antagonist character hides.

Furthermore, there was a female character which challenges the typical masculine antagonist being dominant in the horror genre. Therefore, it empowers and the female antagonist modernises the typical conventions of a horror film to present the female character as dangerous and evil in the eyes of society. In Evil Dead film the female character is also the main character.

Additionally the dark lighting is a typical convention in horror films to create mystery and to create an evil twisted atmosphere in the horror film. This is scene in the cage shot as it creates enigma as it is not clear what is going on in the scene, which makes the audience frightened as they do not know what will happen next. In Evil Dead film dark lighting is potrayed when there is an establishing shot of a haunted house.

There is close ups of the victim which is used to demonstrate the scared facial expression of the victim character. This is seen when the opening scene shows glances of the cage shot and the victim is hopelessly screaming for help. This makes the audience sympathise with the victim character as the victim character is in danger. In Evil Dead film there is a close up of the main female character who is a victim..

Solute shots were used in the opening sequence and are a typical convention of horror films as they hide away the face of the characters. This was effectively used when the antagonist was walking downstairs and the antagonist face was not seen to the audience as a pint of view shot was used. Therefore this creates an element of mystery, as the audience do not know what is going to happen in the scene. There is selutes of the characters as there is a taracking shot to show the victim escaping from the antagonist.

Cross cutting was used which is also a typical convention of the horror genre and this was used in the opening sequence to show the shot on when the cannibal was getting ready and the camera shot cut to the victim screaming. Therefore, the audience can see the transition from the antagonist character and the victim character. In Evil Dead film a cross cutting shot id displayed when there is a horror filled conversation between the victim and the antagonist.Dark clothes were used in the opening sequence and are the typical convention of horror genre films as dark clothes make the characters appear mysterious and the colour may create a horror feel to the scenes were the antagonist character, Hanna Babinski appears evil however the colour black also makes the deceiving antagonist character appear sophisticated and classy in the chicken scene. Therefore dark colours are used for multiple purposes. In Evil Dead film the antagonist to also display mystery wears dark clothes.Black and white shots were used to add a melodramatic element to a selection of highly significant scenes in the opening sequence. For example, the scenes were the victim character is screaming, help (which can be deconstructed by using prop theory). Therefore, dark and black shots are a clear this is typical convention of horror film genre was used in the post-production of the opening sequence. In Evil Dead film dark and white shots also portray the victim characters screaming in pain.
