With the completion of the 2015-2016 school year, we would like to take the time to celebrate and thank all the parent and family volunteers for their efforts and commitment to our school.

The Union Academy Partnership Agreement requires a minimum of 60 hours per year, per family. Your commitment of time and effort to serve as a volunteer in one or more school areas is critical to the success of our students and school.

As a parent, when you volunteer, you will feel more invested in the school as well as in the activities that support your child’s learning experience. In turn, your child will feel supported and will be proud of the family/school partner-ship. Your commitment to our school and to your child’s education is appreciated.

Mrs. Warber’s first grade class was chosen as a winner of the School

Mate Publishing 2015 Grant Give-Away for their classroom book, “I

Wonder Union Academy, 2015-2016 First Grade~ Warber &

Kohnle.” The students worked very hard on researching, writing

and drawing about their topic.

We are very proud of all of you!





Important Information

6th Grade Parents – Important Immunization Requirement Changes

Last week all students were sent home with a form containing information regarding the immunization

requirement changes for rising 7th grade students. All students must have one dose of Tdap (tetanus,

diphtheria, and pertussis), and one dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine prior to entry to 7th grade if they

have not already received it. More information about these vaccines may be found at www.immunize.nc.gov.

Please remember to ask your health care provider for a copy of your child’s immunization (shot) record. This

record will need to be submitted to the health room prior to the first day of school. If your child has a medical

or religious exemption this must be submitted at this time.

Please contact your school nurse with any questions at 704-238-8883, ext. 100.

Medication Pick Up

All Medications and Medical Supplies

must be picked up from the Union Academy health

rooms immediately.

Medications will need to be picked up by the parent /guardian; students may not transport

medication to or from school. Any medication that is not picked up will be disposed.

A new Medication Consent Form must be submitted if the student will need medication for the

2016-2017 school year. Please contact Mrs. Sabo with any questions.

Shuttle Service for 2016-2017 School Year

Shuttle Service forms are now available for next school year. This service is offered to families with students on

both campuses.

1) Seats will be assigned on a first come, first served basis.

2) Bus service will begin on Monday, July 25th, for students who have returned the signed form along with payment or payment arrangement to the Business Office by Friday, July 22nd.

For your convenience, these are online forms and can be completed on the computer, printed and returned to the Business Office. However, payments will not be posted until July and drafts will not begin until August.

Union Academy Announces New Football Coach

Union Academy would like to welcome Justin Frashier as the head football coach for 2016-2017

season. Mr. Frashier is a Kindergarten teacher at Union Academy's Lower Campus and the

head men’s basketball coach and last seasons assistant football coach. Coach Frashier is

originally from Ripley, WV and attended Ripley High School. He was fortunate enough to

earn a baseball scholarship to West Virginia State University where he earned a degree in

Elementary Education. During his time at WVSU his team won three conference championships

and finished 3rd in the College World Series his senior year.

Mr. Frashier taught and coached in his home town after college. He was an assistant football coach at Ripley High

School and an assistant basketball coach for ten years and the head coach for four years.

He brings years of experience to Union Academy and we are excited about the upcoming season.

Mars Hill University!
