The basketball season is here and fans all over the state are gearing up for another exciting season. School bands and raving fans will fill the stands cheering for their school teams. What the fans don’t see is the commitment these student athletes make during the spring and summer playing with their club teams. Many of these individuals travel around the country playing in elite competitions, showcasing their skills to college scouts and scouting services.
There is a lot of hype and media attention that goes into high school basketball. There is a lot of preseason voting for top players and teams and this season promises to be something great. It is no preseason voting for top players and teams and this season promises to be something great. It is no secret that the overall talent pool in basketball was at a minimum, but there seems to be more talentin Green Country across the board. This is a combination of schools and club teams focusing onimproving the skills of the young athletes.
Summer basketball games and camps play a vital role in the development of these athletes because they work on their skills and improve their games. High school ball's primary focus is on team basketball, which allows you to become disciplined within the systems coaches put in place. Players apply many of their skills developed during the summer when they begin high school play. I guess in summation theof their skills developed during the summer when they begin high school play. I guess in summation the combination between club and school basketball produces good synergy. Both sides working togetherproduce positive results for all involved. See you in the stands!

Tulsa Memorial Chargers, Edison, East Central Cardinals, Tulsa Central Braves, and the always competitive BTW Hornets will be among the teams competing for the four spots. East Central and Memorial were in class 6A last season and Tulsa Central was in class 4A last year. This year you have five of the top teams in class 5have five of the top teams in class 5A also in the same conference…get ready for some great basketball!

Now let’s take a closer look at each team in detail:
Tulsa Edison Eagles
The Eagles will be led from the side lines by Coach Mike Parish, who had a gold ball at his fingertips and it slipped away last season. This year the Eagles are a year older and have some unfinished business. Anything less than a gold ball will be an incomplete season for the Eagles. On the floor, Clyde Hill will lead the charge at the point guard position. Clyde is considered one of the top point guards in the state and will lead by example. Clyde will be joined by Stephen “Pooh” Hamilton. He's a versatile playerstate and will lead by example. Clyde will be joined by Stephen “Pooh” Hamilton. He's a versatile playerwith the unique ability to control the game on both ends of the floor. Demond Butler will keep the defensehonest with his long ball, his ability score from any where on the floor, and defensive pressure. DrewCraig and DJ Mahone (the high wire act) will help control the paint. Ehron Ponds the shifty sophomoreguard will help with the ball handling duties and attacking the basket.
Tulsa Memorial Chargers
Coach Savage will be aiming for his third “Gold Ball” as the coach at Memorial. The Chargers will be led bytheir center Cameron Downing who committed to play basketball at the University of Buffalo for the 2010/2011 season. Cameron has the chance to experience what too many other players don’t, winning two gold balls. Cameron will be tough in the middle and will have help from the strong and athletic blue collar team mate David McIntyre. David is the ultimate team mate he just shows up to play and get the job done. , but he will have some help CJ job done. , but he will have some help CJ Wells, who should be the floor general. Adrian Anderson and Dehquan Royal will keep the defense honest with their long ball, these two guards have the ability to score in bunches when they get in the zone.

Theron Chilton of BTW goes for the ball, while fellow freshman Juwan Parker follows pursuit
Booker T. Washington
The gold ball has eluded the Hornets for the last two years. Coach Seals' team lost in the finals in 2008 and the semi finals last year by 4 points. BTW will be younger this year but not lacking in talentsince they reload every year. The Hornets will be led by the senior guard Theron Chilton who has the ability to be the top player in the state when he is focused and plays with purpose. The player that will lead the charge with Chilton is the sensational freshman Juwan Parker. This kid has all the tools tolead the Hornets to a gold ball. Juwan plays inside and out. His basketball IQ is phenomenal andlead the Hornets to a gold ball. Juwan plays inside and out. His basketball IQ is phenomenal andhe possesses a great athletic build. A lot of the ball handling responsibilities will be shared between Tony Bilbury and Brandon Brantley. Dominique Seles will keep the defense honest and pick up where Ian Ponds left off last year.

Coach Wallace is in his second year as the head coach of the Cardinals. The Cardinals will be led bythe play of Jamie Richardson, Hooks, and Andrew Wilson. Wilson and Hooks presents a big and skilled front line, both guys stand at and can step away from the basket and comfortably knock down the 20 foot shot. Andrew is a spectacular athlete and has great foot work around the basket. Jamie Richardson, playing in his second year of high school ball, will be at the point guard position. Richardson is fun to watch with the ball, especially now that he has become more poised and understands the dynamic of the point guard position. Jamie has the ball on a string; he can hit the understands the dynamic of the point guard position. Jamie has the ball on a string; he can hit the three consistently.
