Beyond Borders Mumbai
Diploma of Film and Television Students travel to Mumbai, India, otherwise known as Bollywood! Mumbai is a centre of production for the thriving Film industry in India
Staff and students meet with directors, editors, producers, actors and writers, visit the sets of television series and TV Ads and Sound and VFX studios
Whilst in India students develop documentary films on location, mentored by local filmmakers

Tennant Creek, Desert Harmony Festival
Between 31 July and 9 August select students and staff travelled to NT to participate in a collaborative documentary film making project with Barkly Regional Arts
The 2018 theme of the festival, “Place and belonging”
Students worked along side Sydney based cinematographer Adrian Reinhardt and Swinburne Alumni William Thomson to record the Opening ceremony - BAMFestconcert and Dinner Under the Stars event supported by the state government

Cambodian Rural Student Trust
As part of ongoing efforts to provide students with live industry experiences, in July 2018 Swinburne’s Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media - Film and Television partnered with not-for-profit Cambodia Rural Students Trust in a collaboration that sent select students and two teaching staff to Siem Reap for 10 days to share expertise in production, media and communications best practice

Nick Kozakis
Graduated from the Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media in 2009 producing his short horror film, Abandoned
Directed a number of music clips for Hilltop Hoods and other ARIA nominated bands
Co-directed a zombie-apocalypse feature film Plague (2015) which topped the iTunes charts for twelve weeks
Directed short film, Hunter in 2016 and is currently developing his second feature film while working on commercial and marketing projects for Visible Studio

Currently Sarah works for The Australian Football League, where she undertakes a number of Studio Production roles Director's Assistance (D.A), Graphics Operator/Designer, Make-up the talent and other little things
Works in the Television environment of Outside Broadcasting (OB), and on LIVE and per-recorded studio shows
Has also embarked on Graphic animation work, using programs such as After Effects and Xpression for openers / closers and day to day required broadcast graphics

Dale Bennie
Dale graduated from Swinburne in 2007. In Australia, Dale worked in-house as a product video specialist, shot interviews with music festival headliners, and freelanced on both the creative and technical sides of post-production
In 2014, he jumped hemispheres and was absorbed by the ever-busy post-production industry in Toronto, Canada, working on large-budget projects at a commercial colour / VFX house
With the launch of the 'VICELAND' TV channel at the beginning of 2016, Dale was hired as a colourist at VICE's new production studio in Toronto, and currently grades both their broadcast TV series and Online video content, while trying to avoid the days when it's -35° outside
Previous clients include McDonald's, Sony, Visa, MuchMusic, Toyota, Mercedes, and of course, VICE

Sam Van Munnen
Sam graduated in 2015 from the Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media, Film & TV In 2016
Sam secured an entry level position at Blue Post post production house. Blue Post specializes in long form narrative content. Whilst working at Blue Post Sam assisted on shows such as Offspring, True Story and Rosehaven
Sam is currently employed full time with Blue Post - his position involves quality control, file delivery and processing rushes

Our student engagement does not end at graduation. Screen and Media is increasingly reconnecting with its valued former graduates
Online networks, classroom visits, industry events and personal check-ins have helped forge a community of alumni that retain a strong connection to the course. In 2018 we have taken this relationship a step further, and commenced working with alumni on partnered industry projects
This collaboration is part of the fundamental idea of an in-house production company in which Swinburne, industry partners, alumni, and students alike benefit from a fully-industry integrated experience that helps students not only reach more successful outcomes in industry, but continue to be connected with the course once they are there

Anti Gambling Campaign – 2018
Film and Television secured a commission to create a series of socially beneficial Gambling Awareness commercials produced by a number of recent graduates as early career practitioners. Replicating industry processes, alumni had to pitch their concepts to the client and Swinburne staff, work together to form a production team, and undertake an intensive writing and planning process
