Hazel Zanette “Jackie” (Harvey) Wingert was born Friday, June 20, 1919, in Liberal, Missouri. She was the daughter of Walton and Edith (De Lissa) Harvey. Jackie was one of ten siblings. Her parents and all of her siblings and their spouses have preceded her in death. She lived in Wichita, Kansas, from 1967 to 1994, moving to Ottawa, Kansas, where she made her home until her death Thursday, April 23, 2015, at the age of ninety-five years.

Jackie graduated from Liberal High School, Liberal, Missouri, with the class of 1937. After graduation she entered the work force.

Jackie was united in marriage with David W. Wingert November 3, 1940, in Carthage, Missouri. He preceded her in death September 28, 2000.

After marrying and having children, Jackie dedicated the rest of her life to raising and nurturing her children and grandchildren.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Pittsburg, Kansas, and First United Methodist Church, Ottawa.

Jackie will be remembered and missed not only by her immediate family but also the many nieces, nephews and family friends who experienced her sense of humor, her kind, loving heart, and the holiday gatherings she so cherished. Jackie’s total devotion to her family will be the legacy she leaves.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Eddie Wyman Wingert.

Survivors include her children, David Wingert and wife Lisa of Topeka, Edie Derousseau and husband Adrian of Ottawa, Sue Jackson and husband Mike of Ottawa, and Mary Smith and husband Tony of Hiwasse, Arkansas. Hazel is also survived by seven devoted grandchildren, Tracy Smith and husband Vaughn, Shannon Wingert, Amy Wingert, Kate Nutt and husband Bob, Andy Derousseau and wife Bri, Bill Hayford, and Lauren Tisdale and husband Justin. She also leaves behind eleven loving great grandchildren.
