Beyond Samba: The Musical Others of Brazilian Counterculture In memory of Nicolau Sevcenko Brazil possesses one of the richest musical traditions in the world. Despite this, Brazil's musical diversity is frequently overshadowed by the splendor of samba and carnival. This documentary series focuses on lesser-known forms of Brazilian music - as well as the nation's counterculture - through iconic cultural spaces like Rio de Janeiro's Circo Voador and vibrant musical genres like brega, forró, rock and soul. All screenings will have discussions, food and Q and A.
