URINARY SYSTEM IN HUMAN S

The urinary system of a human being

consist of pair of kidney, a pair of

ureters , a urinary bladder, and a

urethra .

Role of Kidney.

Kidney filters the blood to produce

urine . The ureter carries urine from

kidney to urinary bladder. Urethra

carries urine from urinary bladder to the

outside of the body.

STRUCTURE OF KIDNEY

Kidney are the dark red, bean shaped

organ. Each Kidney is 10cm long, 5 cm

wide and 4 cm thick and weigh about 27

gm. They are protected by the last two

ribs.

HILUS

There is a kidney depression called Hilus.

This is the area of kidney through which

ureter leaves . Kidney and other

structure including blood vessels ,

lymphatic vessels and nerves.

RENAL CORTEX Renal cortex is the outer part of the

kidney.

It is dark red in color.

Renal medulla is the inner part of the

kidney.

Renal medulla is pale red in color.

PYRAMIDSRenal medulla consist of several cone

shaped areas called renal pyramids.

PELVIS. Which is the base of ureter.

NEPHRONThe function unit of kidney is called

nephron.There are two parts of nephrons.

It is a network of capillaries .

BOWMAN’S CAPSULE is a cup

shaped structure. It filters blood .
