Welcome & Introduction Don Manning

Bon Voyage

- Norm Murray

Ah! Give me a boat with a sail and a mast - it needn't be tall, but it has to be fast.

As long as it takes me away on the tide, I'll sail it with eagerness, honour and pride.

I have to escape from that sad, land-locked sort who cannot distinguish their starboard from port; who wouldn't know how, if you gave them a sheet,

to tie a good knot, or belay to a cleat.

With all canvas set and good mates on my barque, gull-winged, I'll rejoice to be first round the mark;

or crossing the vastness of oceans at night - just being afloat gives me endless delight.

For nothing can match all the pleasure I've had - salt spray on my face - there's no need to be sad.

I've loved every hour of it, make no mistake - the troubles of life left behind in my wake.

So, up with the mainsail! I've called it a day, and now on the breeze I will sail away.

No need for a Navman, like modern Jack Tars: on my final voyage I'll steer by the stars.

Crossing The Bar

- Alfred, Lord Tennyson

Sunset and the evening star, And one clear call for me!

And may there be no moaning of the bar When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam,

When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark!

And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark.

For, though from out our bourne time and place, The flood may bear me far,

I hope to see my pilot face to face, When I have crossed the bar.
