Existing Conditions - Natural Environment & Potential Species at Risk

We have identified: • 4 Environmentally Significant Areas

- Williamson Park - North Shore Park - Glen Davis Ravine - Warden Woods

• Species at Risk - Butternut - Barn Swallow - Bank Swallow - Chimney Swift - Common Nighthawk - Short-eared Owl

How we assess it: • Surveys and information gathered from

conservation authorities and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF).

• Conduct field surveys. Potential Impact Mitigation • May include rehabilitation and/or

protection. • Following best practices in

Toronto. • A mix of low, medium and high-density

residential housing. • Multiple development applications throughout

the Study Area. • Dispersed areas of commercial and retail uses. • Many institutional uses including schools,

churches and a long-term care facility. • Many parks, open spaces and other

recreational uses including museums and theatres.

How we assess it: • Official Plan designations from City of Toronto. • Future planned development near the Study

Area.

City on the design of public spaces and significant public facing structures.

• Traffic Management Plan. • Discussions with impacted property

owners.

Existing Conditions - Cultural Environment – Built Heritage

We have identified: • 2 Cultural Heritage Landscapes • 30 Built Heritage Resources • 2 Heritage Conservation

Districts Next Steps • Cultural Heritage Evaluation

Reports currently being undertaken.

How we assess it: • Metrolinx Cultural Heritage

Management Process and assessments by heritage experts.

Existing Conditions - Cultural Environment – Archaeology

We have identified: • 17 registered archaeological

sites within 1 km of the Study Area.

• Small portions of lands containing archaeological potential for both historic Euro-Canadian and pre-contact archaeological resources.

How we assess it: • Stage 1 Archaeological Assessment

(AA) including historical data and property inspection.

• Some locations require a Stage 2 AA which includes more detailed testing.

Potential Impact Mitigation • Following MTCS requirements for

managing archaeological resources.
