What is License Plating?

License plating provides visibility of the location of a collective group of items

(items #’s and quantities) that are physically not in NetSuite bin

• Managing & receiving a set of items at once on a pallet or container

• Container is the same concept as a license plate or skid– Inventory needs to be ‘grouped’, moved from place to place with single

action, and can be made up of multiple items, multiple PO lines, etc.• Containers need to be owned

– Use case is for inventory that you take title for at outbound port– Tracking containers without a ‘location’ is risky idea in NS

• Best practice– Track on-the-water with a Netsuite location

Why Are LPN’s and Containers The Same?

• Cannot track inventory transformation without bin (or WO)– There is no ‘second’ layer of inventory control in Netsuite

• No native action to move a pre-determined amount of inventory– Larger operations or shipments require a single action to move a skid/LPN– Barcoding is considered best practice standard here

• No ability to track inventory without it being in a location– Makes it pretty much mandatory to have an on-water inventory location– Locations might also have bins, so cannot use that in many cases
