It would be based at the Hindon Airbase, Ghaziabad. 6th February : Mr. Jhalanath Khanal elected as new Prime Minister of Nepal. 11th March : A devastating Earthquake and Tsunami brought Tokyo, Japan to a stand still. 17th March : Mr. Mukesh Ambani was appointed as a director of the Bank of America. He is the first Non American to join the US based banking behemoth. 24th April : Sri Satya Sai Baba Passed away at Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh.

24th December :

27th December :

2nd May :

The world's most wanted Terrorist Osama Bin Laden was killed by American forces in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

20th May :

Ms. Mamata Banerjee Sworn in as the Chief Minister of West Bengal.

30th June :

China Opened Beijing Shanghai high speed train to the public. The train will run at the speed of 350 km per hour and cover the distance in 4 hours and 45 minutes, which is less than half the duration of the current 10 hour journey.

16th July :

Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao had been appointed India's next Ambassador of the United States.

19th July :

Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar sworn in as youngest and first women Foreign Minister of Pakistan.

5th December :

Serbia defeated France 3-2 to win the Davis Cup title played at Belgrade Seberis.

15th January :

Rajasthan won their maiden Ranji Trophy title defeating Baroda at Moti Bagh Stadium, Varodara.

24th January :

Anjali Bhagwat the ace shooter won Champion of Champions title among Rifle shooters on the closing day of National Shooting championship held at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, Tughlakabad, New Delhi.

30th January :

Australian Open — Men's Singles: Norvak Djokovic of Serbia defeated Andy Murray of Scotland. Women's Singles: Kim Clijsters of Belgium defeated Li Na of China. Men's Doubles: Mike and Bob Brian of USA defeated Leander Paece and Mahesh Bhupati of India. Women's Doubles: Gisele Dulko of Argentina and Flavia Pennetta of Italy defeated Maria Kirilenko of Russia and Victoria of Belarus. Mixed Doubles: Katarina Srebotnik of Slovenia and Daniel Nestor of Canada defeated Chan Yung of Taiwan and Paul Hanlay of Australia.

12th December :

Saina Nehwal won Hong Kong Open super series (Badminton) in Wanchai by defeating Shixian Wan of China.

12th February :

Natioal Games were held at Bisra Munda Athletics Stadium at Ranchi from 12th February to 26th February, 2011. Services topped the medal tally with 70 Gold, 50 Silver and 42 Bronze medals. Ms. Richa Mishra of Delhi won the best Athlete (Female) and Maharashtra's ace swimmer Virdhawal won the best Athlete (Male) of 34th National Games Championship.

20th March :

Saina Nehwal won the Swiss Open Grand Prix title (Badminton) with a victory over the 19th seed Korean player Ji Hyun Sung in Basel, Switzerland.

2nd April :

Team India lifted the ICC World Cup by defeating Srilanka. The match was played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Yuvraj Singh adjudged man of the Tournament. Srilankan Spin wizard Muttiah Muralidharan took retirement from One day Cricket.

28th May :

Chennai Super Kings Won the IPL 2011.

Wimbledon 2011 — Men's Singles : Novak Djokovic of Serbia defeated Rafael Nadal of Spain. Women's Singles : Petra Kvilova of Czech Republic defeated Maria Sharapova of Russia. Men's Doubles : Bob and Mike Bryan of America defeated Robert Lindstedt of Sweden and Horia Tecau of Rumania. Women's Doubles : Kveta Peschke of Czech Republic and Katarina Srebotnik of Slovenia defeated Sabine Lisicki of Germany and Samantha Stosur of Australia. Mixed Doubles : Jurgen Melzer of Australia and Iveta Bencsova of Czech Republic beat Mahesh Bhupati of India and Elena Vesnina of Russia.

Women's Doubles : American pair Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond beat Vania King of U.S.A. and Yaroslava Shvedova of Khazakhstan. Mixed Doubles : Amercian duo Melanie Oudin and Jack Sock beat the Argentine pair of Gisela Dulko and Eduardo Schwank.
